A Unique Wedding Invitation: Tying The Knot ~ Literally

  • Some people are just so creative!

I love this wedding invitation concept by Christina Moralego.

It is quite literally, the tying of a knot to represent the union of Lois and Chris ~ the happy couple.

    Here’s the translation:

    KNOT:
LOOP THAT IS FASTENED AND LOCKED SO IT IS DIFFICULT TO RELEASE, AND THE MORE ITS ENDS ARE PULLED APART THE MORE IT TIES TOGETHER.

    Don’t you just love it?!

With a bit of trial and error working out the exact length of string needed ~ it’s a simple DIY option which would make such a memorable invite!

Hello! I absolutely love this idea, and did this for my own wedding! But I regret to inform that this knot tying card has a patent pending by its creator, Mark S. Porro with the MarkCard Co.

As an artist myself, I would strongly suggest not copying this idea and instead reaching out to the Mark Card Company to create them for you!

    :)

      What a load of clap-trap.

My first ever creative director did this for his wedding about 8 years ago. But this guy wasn’t to know

Lovely idea, just not original ;)

Thanks for your comments Rachel, it is a fantastic idea ~ bet it went down a treat with your guests!

I would like to credit the original designer too. However, I’ve been searching online for Mark S Porro/Mark Card Co. but can’t find information on him or the company.

Please could you send a direct link to the relevant website. Thank you :)

      Hi Elizabeth,

Here’s a link to the Marcard website. We don’t have the “Tie the Knot” card on the site as it is patent pending. My card is a bit different from the one you have here, but the self-tying concept is the same. Feel free to contact me regarding the invites.

      Take Care,
      Mark

Fantastic idea. Can you post the instructions

I did this with our wedding programs. It was a last minute addition I decided to tackle 3 days before our wedding. Tying the knots was a ton of work….but they were a fun surprise for our guests!

So let me get this straight… multiple designers have employed techniques like this in the past, but one designer is now seeking to patent the construction of a card that ties a knot to symbolize tying a knot (which in and of itself is kind of a “duh”). The patent has not been approved, and the product is not available for purchase. How else WOULD one get such an item except to make it oneself, and how could anyone suggest that this is an untoward action? You don’t see Nike running around fining people on the street for saying “Just do it!” (Because it has no impact on their business, and it isn’t being employed for any clear purpose other than personal enjoyment/consumption. See any parallels?)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the application for a patent got denied, because there is nothing unique enough about this card’s construction to warrant a patent, and nothing that couldn’t be conceptualized and constructed at home by an average adult (or child) without anyone’s help or inspiration. It’s pretty hard to patent common sense (though admittedly, common sense has become harder to come by).
