Newlywed Sophie, whose gorgeously quirky, vintage English country garden wedding we've been admiring for these last few days on Bridal Musings {Part 1 & Part 2} kindly offered to share the DIY details from her wedding.

Her and Robert had some great ideas from striped water colour confetti cones to a very unique table numbers display!

Striped Confetti Cones

Making the confetti cones was pretty simple. I got a couple of pieces of cream card and drew light brown and purple lines on them using watercolour pencils. I then added water to them. Once these were dry, I cut the card into 15cm squares and then rolled them into cones. Robert glued them along the inside edges. As for the dried rose petals, I pulled them off my bought cream and pink roses and then put them in warm areas in my flat so they could dry naturally.

DIY Paper Goods

I designed the invite, RSVP postcard, menu and order of service using Photoshop and sent them to a local print shop.

Bunting Galore

My Mum is amazing when it comes to sewing and happily agreed to make the bunting. The materials came from IKEA and a trimming shop. I created a triangle template for our pennants and then Robert and I drew it onto the materials. We cut the triangles out and passed them on to my Mum. She was a fabulous star as she made 8 lots of bunting!

A Unique, 3D Seating Plan

I wanted our seating plan display to be something different.  We got the wood sticks and cardboards from an art shop and used our own bottles. I found the rubber stamps and gold ink on Not on The High Street. Stamping the names resulted in our backs becoming sore, but it was worth the pain! I found the step ladder on Ebay and Robert got the wooden boxes from one of the garden centres he sometimes visits, due to his green fingers! Robert’s sister kindly lent us the vintage suitcase and we used it as our card box.

Charity Shops & Quirky Online Shops For A Handmade Feel

We got the vintage vases & containers from charity shops and family members,  and the other decorations came from Etsy – Pom Queen, FunOnAStick,Victorianstation – and Folksy – The Lime Garden.  I got the paper mache table numbers off Lainesworld.co.uk and sprayed them with gold paint! The ‘Love is beautiful’ and ‘Thanks for coming!’ badges were designed by myself and made by www.MyBadges.co.uk. They were great!

I advise you not to be frightened to make your wedding ideas come real. Honestly, it is easier than you think! Oh, and get your family and friends to help you. It's great fun!

I love the unique 3D table plan idea ~ especially as the alphabet stamps could be used again and again for different projects. And those gold numbers look so much prettier than they would have if they were simply white!
