• Plum, Gold and Green Wedding Inspiration Board

    Good morning,

    Hope you all had wonderful weekends. What did you get up to? Watch a bit of X Factor perhaps?

    Every time I watch it I end up ‘singing’ Whitney Houston/Jennifer Hudson/Adele songs really badly at the top of my lungs as I make cups of tea/catch up on emails/blog. Rufus, who is the most loving, excitable, friendly dog in the world, has been known to leave the room in despair! As well as warbling away to X Factor, I shared a truly delightful and inspiring afternoon tea yesterday with some fellow bloggers and wedding industry pros {more on that in a future post}.

    A few weeks ago I received the loveliest email from bride to be, Adeyinka, who is a regular Bridal Musings reader {yay!} She’s getting married in November and wanted some advice on how to pull her chosen wedding colours together. Here’s what she said: My three favourite colours are golden yellow, green and plum, however, I am a bit stuck on how to use these in the groomsmen outfit and the reception hall decoration for the table setting, back drop etc.

    So I put together a few ideas for a rich, Autumnal colour palette of plum, green and gold…

    From left to right, top to bottom: groomsmen | mini vases | groom’s attire | pine cone escort cards |plum & green floral centerpiece | plum & lavender table setting | DIY boutonnieres | green pom poms | jasmine and gold garland | plum & gold menu & gilded table numbers

    I must admit, it felt very weird not choosing a wedding dress, accessories or bridesmaid’s dresses to include in my inspiration board but it was great to explore different decor ideas and focus on the groom. {I tend to neglect grooms and go straight for the pretty dresses!}

    The Groom’s Attire ~ For the groom, I envisioned a smart, sharp suit in black or charcoal grey teamed with a purple tie. {I love the woolen black and grey check ~ it’s perfect for a wedding in the colder months and that dandy silk polka dot hankerchief in the top pocket is such fun!} Leaf boutonnieres are a fantastic alternative to traditional boutonnieres as well as being the perfect Autumnal motif. The selection above are DIY options so if you {or your groom} want to get crafty, here’s a link to the full tutorial.

    Table Top Decor ~ these mini tarnished effect vases from Cox and Cox are the perfect shade of plum and gold. Instead of having one big centerpiece you could scatter a few mini vases around the table/venue while table cloths are a simple way to infuse your plum colour palette into the overall look of your reception decor. The contrasting lavender table cloth and plum napkins look gorgeous.

    The floral centerpieces and decor I included have lots of lush greenery mixed with vibrant purple blooms. I love the simplicity of the mason jars with bunches of wildflowers {with long stalks} and how about pine cone escort cards/placecards? I LOVE that idea for a Autumn/Winter wedding! You could even spray paint them {or just the tips} gold for a gilded effect. They would go perfectly with the 3D gold table numbers.

    Room Decor ~ These Bhldn pom poms in shades of green would look awesome hanging haphazardly fom the ceiling at different levels, or in a row as a backdrop for the ceremony/top table/dancefloor. Alternatively, I adore these fluffy paper jasmin flower garlands with a decadent hint of gold ~ they can be used as a more grown up and sopisticated alternative to bunting.

    Hope it’s given you some more ideas, Adeyinka. {And any other readers opting for a similar colour palette.} Wishing you all the best for the rest of your wedding planning and your wedding ~ I can’t wait to see your photos!

    This is awesome. I’m not yet engaged or anything, but I’m a bit wedding-obsessed and I’ve always wanted an October wedding with plum and sage as my colors. Needless to say, I’m a big fan of this setup. :D
