Scrabble, Mac & Tea: My Photo Shoot With Ashton Jean Pierre
Welcome to the weekend!
I’ve been umming and ahhing for weeks about whether or not to feature this shoot. Feels so weird featuring photos of myself. However, I decided it was high time I shared them because Ashton John Pierre, the talented man behind the lens, is AWESOME. And it’s important to me that my lovely readers know that too.
After featuring Ashton’s Retro Cinema Inspired E-Shoot, I fell head over heels for his beautiful film photography so when I needed head shots for my ‘About page’ he was the first person I thought of. Ashton suggested we meet at cool and quirky design shop and cafe Drink, Shop & Do in Kings Cross, London which is definitely worth a visit if you like crafting/design/yummy cakes.
For the shoot I simply wanted a few photos of me ‘blogging’ away on my trusty Mac {actually it was Zee’s cute little Macbook Air as it’s far prettier than my cumbersome, dirty white Mac!} I also wanted to represent my ‘Britishness’ with a spot of tea.
Zee says I look like a lion in the photo below {he’s a charmer} but I must admit my hair does look a bit wild and my ombre highlights look much lighter than they usually do so I can see the resemblance!
Blogger about town off on some important blogging business ~ that’s me! I did feel a bit silly and self conscious posing at first {especially in front of the cool, Drink Shop & Do folk and curious passers by} but Ashton quickly put me at ease and I ended up really enjoying the shoot.
Ashton noticed a Scrabble board game under one of the tables so we set about spelling Bridal Musings {19 points FYI} and, as a result, my About Page got a whole lot prettier! Genius idea, Ashton.
Ashton was a pleasure to work with, he has such passion and enthusiasm for {film} photography. Ashton’s deaf so we communicated by lip reading, writing on a notepad, through gestures and lots of laughing! He taught me how to say ‘Elizabeth’ in sign language but, of course, I’ve forgotten already!
Normally I’d pick apart photos of myself and focus on my bad bits but I can honestly say that these are some of the best photos of me I’ve ever seen. {The wonderful blurry softness of film photography hides a multitude of sins!}
I highly recommend Ashton to all couples {deaf or not} and you just have to look at his stunning wedding photography to see why you’d want him to capture your special day.
Are you a fan of film photography too?
