Short And Chic Hairstyles For Brides
Good morning lovelies,
How was your weekend? Hope you had lots of festive fun!
To kick start the week, I’ve put together a beauty post that is an ode to brides with short hair. I’ve never been brave enough to go for the chop myself (I don’t think short hair would suit me one bit) but I absolutely adore short hairstyles on brides.
Short And Chic Hairstyles
Let’s start with a little look at some of the chicest short hairstyles gracing red carpets and catwalks. From pixie crops to bobs, poker straight to pin curls ~ these beauties prove that short hair rocks!

Be True To Your Personal Style On Your Wedding Day
I was talking to a friend who is known for her signature, short, blonde bob but for some reason, the moment that engagement ring was on her finger, she started growing her hair so it could be worn up on her wedding day because she thought that was the ‘bridal’ way. How crazy is that?
Brides, when it comes to beauty and style, please follow your hearts ~ don’t wear what you think you should wear or style your hair in a certain way because it’s considered more ‘bridal’. You want to feel like the best version of you on your wedding day not a cookie cutter bride!

How To Style Short Hair On Your Wedding Day
Glam up short hair on your wedding day by adding curls, texture or volume and don’t forget those all important accessories. Hair bands, hair clips and fascinators can add interest and romance while earrings or a pretty necklace complete any bridal look.

As I was searching for inspirational images of short haired brides for this post I noticed two things…
1) It seems that old adage about blondes having more fun was wrong ~ from these photos it appears short haired brides have all the fun!
2) Lots of short haired brides choose not to wear a veil (or opt for a birdcage veil)
For those of you who have short hair and like the thought of a chapel length veil, check out my gorgeous short haired friend, Kelly and her full length, pouffy, fabulous veil:

If you have short hair (or are thinking of going for the chop) I hope you found this post helpful.
However, as with all hairstyles, don’t go for a drastic restyle a few months before your wedding. If possible, try to consider how you’d like to wear your hair 6 months to a year in advance and have a trim and a tidy up 2 weeks before your wedding.
Any short haired brides out there? I’d love to hear how you’re wearing your hair on the big day!

I’m loving this post!!! Super fun.
I totally agree! A bride should do what’s best and most comfortable for her and look like a better version of herself on her wedding day. I have very short hair and often wondered, being in the wedding industry, how I’ll wear my hair on my wedding day. I DO know that I won’t be letting it grow because others feel like it should be long. I have been wearing it short for 12 years and, although the lengths have varied slightly, I absolutely love my short hair!
Wow, as we do bridal hair and makeup, this is an amazing roundup of fabulously chic bridal hairstyles!
LOVE this post – I love the display of both celeb ‘dos for inspiration and then REAL brides that rocked the short hair too. I always wish I could rock this length of hair (ESP the vintage fingerwaves … droool).
it’s great to actually see pictures of brides with short hair! I myself have a pixie cut and everyone i talk to seems to feel bad for me that i won’t be able to “do” anything with my hair on my wedding day. And many bridal sites are also very unhelpful, all martha stewart’s site has to say is that brides with short hair can always grown it out or get extensions for the big day… kinda makes you feel like you need to have long hair to be a bride
Question: How did your friend Kelly get her veil to stay in? When I first bought my dress and tried on veils they all kept falling out! My hair was a little bit shorter than hers. Because of this I pledged to let my hair grow for the next 9 months so it could hold a veil. Now I’m 4 months out from my big day, and hate my hair with this length back on it! I want to chop it short again (that’s how I feel most like me), but I desperately want a veil (and not a birdcage!)
I too have short hair, and I do not plan on growing it out, I personally do not like long hair on me because it is baby fine— I was told that the hair dresser can actually sew on the veil if he/she needs to—I am still clueless to what I want to do with my own hair, but was thinking a small comb with baby breath and/or a small veil sitting a bit below the crown of my head
I have a pixie cut and I love it and will not grow it out for my wedding there are some beautiful head bands out there or clips. I found mine on etsy.com ……just an idea happy shopping!
Everyone was telling me to grow my hair for my wedding in March 2013. I have been growing it for the last three months, then the other day I went to the hair dressers and got it chopped short again. It’s coming into summer here in Aus, and I hate hair on the back of my neck!
At this stage I want short hair on my wedding day (about the length of Rachael Adams’ up the top there). I will re assess in December and if I want I can grow it from there on out =)
