Happy Friday!

I can't get enough of retro, vintage chic engagement shoots at the moment…

There was this 1950s diner, Grease esque shoot, this stroll along the British promenade 1920s shoot and this vintage pin up shoot in an airfield. Today we're heading to 1940s Chicago for Peter and Erica's glamourous, gorgeously styled engagement shoot.

It's a wonderfully eclectic mix between ‘It's A Wonderful Life', ‘Casablanca' and ‘Water For Elephants' ~ each vintage inspired photo sets the scene to tell Erica and Peter's own modern love story. I'm blown away by the AH-mazing outfits, Erica's elegant hair and make up and the fact that they incorporated a few vintage items that belonged to Peter's grandparents into the shoot. How lovely is that?

Oh and one more thing ~ the beautiful, timeless photography by Jenelle Kappe!

From Erica, the bride to be:

Peter and I were beyond thrilled when Jenelle asked for our help, originally [since we weren't engaged at the time] we would be acting as “models in love”. That wasn't going to be hard for us. To my surprise, Peter proposed about a month before the shoot! Choosing our 40's themed outfits was not the easist task, but after scouring my vast clothing collection and about 47 emails back and forth with Jenelle and Stephanie [from Viva L'Event], we had some great choices. The fur I wore was Peter's grandmother's and the fedora hat he wore was his grandfathers. That was really special. We just want every aspect of the wedding planning and experience to showcase our personalities… and boy does vintage suit us.

From Viva Event Event Planner:

It's always a dream to be able to work with such a fun couple that's wants something different and where we are able to use our passion in design to make this styled engagement shoot bring you to years back and bring the vision alive today. Designing each detail by researching movies, such as “It's a Wonderful Life”, “Casablanca” and newer movie Walter for Elephants then adding in small details that give this shoot an edge. Within this shoot we went back to the 1940's in the picnic tea scene with beautiful accessories. Then Erica and Peter brought the fun pops of colors into the next scene bringing in more of a new age feel to the shoot and the circus touch from “Water for Elephants”. We loved putting each small detail including the flowers and the stationary items like the Save the Date within this shoot and using the many vintage props.

Congratulations Peter and Erica! Wishing you all the best with your wedding planning. Thank you, Jenelle Kappe Photography and Viva L'Events for sharing these beautiful images with us today.

Ok hands up who wants to wear a fur stole to their wedding and carry a lavender bouquet wrapped in burlap? Swoon.
