Magical Winter Shoot: Snow, Roses & A Red Velvet Wedding Dress
Happy Monday!
I do hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend.
Are you getting back into wedding planning mode? Anyone break their New Year’s resolutions yet? (Guilty!)
Sadly my 2013 hasn’t got off to a great start. In fact, it’s been pretty awful.
A huge fire in the building next to ours on Friday has totally uprooted our lives for the time being.*
So instead of the new features I had intended to share today, which I haven’t had time (or my laptop!) to work on, I’m re-visiting one of my all time favourites from the archives.
It’s a styled shoot by Ciara Richardson so swoonworthy it comes with the disclaimer ‘only to be read while sitting down’.
Featuring an incredible DIY dip dyed lace and red velvet wedding dress, snow, roses and a magical proposal…
Amazing isn’t it?!
You can see the original post, with the background behind the shoot here.
* I don’t usually share personal posts on Bridal Musings because I’m sure the majority of you come here for pretty weddings and inspiration, not updates on me and my not so glamourous life. However, for those of you who are interested, here’s what happened:
At 1:30 am on Friday night Zee and I were evacuated from our rented flat (which we just moved into last week) because there was a huge fire in the building next door. 12 fire engines were called to the scene and 60 brave firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the night to contain the blaze. Thankfully the building was empty and no one was hurt.
But as the fire brigade had to position themselves on the roof of our building to contain the fire, our flat and everything in it, including my laptop, have been covered in tonnes of water. Sad, sad face.
Now Zee, Rufus and I are in temporary accommodation awaiting news of when / if we can return and, as a result of all the drama and losing a shedload of work on my laptop, I’ve had to adapt my editorial plans for this week.
So please bear with me through this, things will be back to normal very soon, pinky promise.
Take care, lovelies, and use my sorry predicament as a reminder to check that those fire alarms are working. x

beautiful shoot!! I would LOVE to know how to find a dress similar to this one!
Thanks Gaby, we’re getting settled into a new flat now. Thank you for your sweet comment x
Exactly – cue that D:Ream song…did you get them in NZ? Yes, things are getting much better now that we’re in a new flat and enjoying exploring our new neighbourhood. Thanks for the lovely comment x
The photographer, Ciara Richardson, actually DIYed this dress! She used a lace top / body, dip dyed it and attached it to velvet material. Amazing.
