Time to let your inner fairytale princess run wild and free with this beautiful, Cinderella inspired styled shoot!

The shoot was dreamt up by Krista Leigh Hurst Photography who gathered a team of creatives to bring her modern fairytale vision to life. Featuring a spot of vintage dress up-cycling by Little Miss Lovely Vintage, delightful stationery by Hand-Painted Weddings, a beautiful bride and her Prince William (Charming).

Oh how I love everything about this shoot and that dress. The sweet simplicity of the sewing themed table set up – a few balls of yarn, a giant spool and mini dress maker's dummy complemented with an assortment of illustrated paper pretties.

 From The Photographer…

Cinderella was a girl with nothing who ended up with everything and more. Even before I knew what love was, I knew love could overcome anything. Call me a romantic, but I'm a believer in that unimaginable, crazy kind of love. For this shoot I wanted to create a modern Cinderella story, full of love, beautiful details, and a strong woman who finds her happy ending.

Hand-Painted Weddings

The hand-painted Modern Cinderella invitation set, menus, escort cards and table signs are inspired by the climactic moment in Cinderella where she, filled with love, runs out of the ball and down the stairs to her carriage at midnight.

The vine illustration draws its roots from old-fashioned fairytale book designs that start with “Once Upon a Time” and end with “Happily Ever After.” These little phrases are sprinkled throughout the stationery, and are introduced in the invitation with the line “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes”, the iconic song of the Cinderella story.

Luckily, just days before Krista approached me to be a part of this shoot I had been browsing one of our local thrift stores and had spotted a gorgeous, 1950s muted blue tulle gown. It was perfect. I tailored the dress to fit our beautiful model, reinforced all of the seams, and sewed a cream-colored sash to accent the waist of the strapless gown.

I like to find vintage dresses and make them fit modern brides and women. It's like up-cycling something someone else doesn't want anymore and re-purposing it to fit someone who will really appreciate it.

Many thanks to Krista and the team for sharing this gorgeous shoot with us. Though I must admit my husband isn't best pleased as I can't stop crooning ‘A dream is a wish your heart makes…' Problem is I don't actually know any of the words apart from that first line so it's getting a little repetitive.
