Hello lovely readers,

I do hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I'm currently sat in a light, airy apartment in Berlin – hanging a little but happy after a weekend of exploring the city (and the bars). Boy do these Berliners know how to party! *

Its such a treat  to share Bethany and Don's country chic wedding with you all today. It's filled to the brim with teal and peach DIY goodness, stylish attire and sweet love. Here's just a few of the many things I adore about this wedding:

Ombre bridesmaids dresses in perfectly peachy hues, whimsical key boutonnières, a rose covered gown, statement necklace and mint green heels for the beautiful bride, delicate DIY pearl and fabric flower corsages and gorgeous photos by Larissa Nicole Photography.

Oh and there's a Liam Neeson cake. Enough said.

 Handmade Details

For the groomsmen boutonnieres, my mother put together a flower on vintage keys. The ring bearers carried vintage green books wrapped in burlap down the isle and I made each bridesmaid a charm bracelet, each having a charm that was inspired by things they love. I also handmade the mother’s and grandmother’s corsages from pearl bracelets and lace flowers.

 Country Chic Inspiration

I love weddings that feel relaxed and fun rather than being all formal.

My country roots definitely inspired the décor I used. Nearly all of the décor was handmade by me and my friends. I had some awesome help from a friend who decorates for many weddings and she donated things like old garden ornaments for the tables and all the mason jars for people to drink from. It was all very elegant and simple and had a ton of little touches that really made the day magical!

 The Ceremony

One of my favourite special touches at our wedding was the handmade signs that were hung on chairs down the aisle. They were made from old wooden shingles from the same barn that the wooden alter came from. I painted them with chalk board paint and wrote the passage from 1 Corinthians on them. So that each isle would have a sign that said “love is kind” or “love never fails”.

We also decided to have a foot washing ceremony as a sign that we will strive in our marriage to serve the other and put them first.

Decor & Details

Thankfully Pinterest exists and I was able to spend months researching in one place all the pretty little details I wanted to incorporate in our wedding!

I love DIY projects so I spent those months of being engaged working on anything I could get my hands on. We had a wood alter made of wood from my grandpa’s barn. We were able to have real china for all the food and cake which really made things special. I ordered teal striped straws to accompany the mason jar drinks and each table setting had a cute little teal thank you note for coming to celebrate with us.

My mother in law (the scrapbooking queen) decorated a beautiful old window with pictures of each of parents and grandparents on their wedding day, just a small way to celebrate the marriages that taught us what we know of love.

 The Wedding Music

The band at our wedding happens to be some of our best friends who are some of the best blues and jazz players around. I was always their biggest fan, so the fact that they wrote the soundtrack to our wedding was a dream come true.

 The Cake Table

Our cake table was one for the records – an old buffet painted a beautiful teal color and distressed, displaying our cake and a mason jar filled with beautiful pearls.

 Favourite Moments

Our wedding was about having all of our favourite people in the world gather with us to celebrate this new journey.

All the hard work from months of DIY projects paid off in the best ways. The wedding was a million times more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and I received endless compliments on how beautiful not only the decorations were, but how moving the ceremony was. Thanks to our dear friend, Terry Habegger, who watched us grow as a couple and was always there to encourage us. To have him stand up there and lead us into marriage really was the icing on the cake!

Congratulations Bethany and Don! Wishing you all the best for a marriage as beautiful as your wedding.
