When we think of a Greek wedding, we think of white buildings, blue capped churches, draped gowns, plenty of dancing, and maybe even a few smashed plates.

But there’s also a refined, elegant, modern and utterly stylish side, that’s far from the quintessential (albeit beautiful!) vision we all have of the typical Greek wedding.

And incredible Athens wedding photographer Elias Kordelakos Photography, along with the team at Pyrgos Petreza, and some amazing Greek wedding vendors have put together an incredible shoot to inspire anyone planning a wedding in Greece, or beyond.

With timeless touches, intricate details, stunning florals and beautiful gowns, there are so many ideas in here to inspire your celebration, whether you’re planning a elegantly rustic bash, something a little vintage, or perhaps a bohemian big day with embroidery and succulents.

But enough of our take on it. We’ll let the team behind this shoot tell you a little more about the inspiration and hard work that brought it all together…

On a cold but sunny day, we decided to create magical spring scenery at a very special location.

Pyrgos Petreza (Petreza Tower) covers an area of over 70.000 sq.m. in Attica and is surrounded by rich greenery, various Mediterranean plants, high oaks and cypress trees.

Also well known for its winery and olive garden, is one of the most popular and welcoming venues in Attica.

The actual tower was constructed by all kinds of reclaimed materials: railway tracks, old woods, stones, beams, tiles and marbles, found at the region and nearby abandoned houses.

Being there, so far from the busy city of Athens, countryside capturing our imagination, we decided to create an elegant and chic botanical atmosphere for the shoot.

Our color palette was natural shades and creams, with a touch of color, such as light green and blush pinks. The circle or ring, a strong wedding symbol for unity and eternity, became our inspiration for every small detail, from stationery and favours, to the delicate fern crowns used for the decoration.

I think the pictures speak for themselves, thanks to our talented photographer who captured the feeling!

Thank you so much Elias Kordelakos, for keeping this wonderful setting alive through your photographs!

The Gowns

The elegant and romantic bridal gowns, by our favorite Christos Costarellos, made this photo-shoot more vivid and stylish and totally continued the floral theme with delicate laces, embroidery and flowing full-length skirts.

The Dessert Table

For the candy bar/wish table we selected a 19th century pastel mint-green antique boudoir once belonging to an old Corfu manor house.

A flower-decorated naked cake, vintage-inspired cookies and mini-donuts were made especially for the occasion by Cookie Box to get that vintage feeling.

The scrabble board, the old-school telephone, the nostalgic wish-cards, the traditional cake stands, the classical copper pots, and the mini glasses with succulents added a whimsical yet romantic feeling to our candy bar.

The Flowers

Our talented florist, Kostas Korakas from RedBoxDays, chose a lot of foliage, eucalyptus mixed with orchids to have a fresh, dreamy and graceful effect.

The highlight of the shoot is the specially hand-made, absolutely stunning tree, decorated with orchids and foliage! Four uneven pedestals were richly decorated with flowers, while the fabulous cascading bridal bouquet enhanced the romantic feeling.

The Tablescaping

The centerpieces were high crystal vases topped with amazing flowers and the bridal table decoration including a table runner, made of green foliage with tiny white flowers and orchids.

For the table setup, we chose subtle table linens, colourful glassware, country-style porcelain plates, lace, embroidery and jar-candles to give that peaceful, rustic feeling of the countryside.

Tulle favors and lace crowns designed to serve as napkin rings, completed the refined tablescape.

Bohemian Touches

At the entrance, the rough wooden table was decorated with burlap and lace runners, branches, lanterns and various sizes of botanical glass bell jars filled with succulents and orchids.

So gorgeous, don’t you think? Those Christos Costarellos wedding dresses are simply beautiful. I love the hair styling too. And the ring motif throughout is such a beautiful touch.

Thanks so much to Elias Kordelakos Photography, the team at Pyrgos Petreza, and all of these talented vendors for sharing their inspiration from Greece with us.
