Australian weddings are always effortlessly cool, relaxed and gorgeous.
And Dannelle and Stephen’s outdoor bash is the perfect example of how to create a laid-back celebration with lots of style and romance.
Dannelle’s super chic pink quilted gown (don’t you just love wedding dresses with pockets!) was bought in Spain from Dolores Promesas – in fact it was the dress that inspired Stephen to propose on that very trip!
The perfect fit for their informal affair, suave groom Stephen (and dashing page boy Finn) matched the gorgeous bride with cool, tie-free looks.
With string lights, lanterns, sweet blooms and the prettiest of dessert tables (all styled by Honey Lane), this is the kind of fun, intimate, and stylish outdoor wedding that makes us wish we lived in sunnier climes!
Wedding Day Snapshot
Stephen proposed in Malaga, Spain after we both saw what would end up being my wedding dress in a shop front window.
We wanted a relaxed wedding where our friends and family could enjoy great company, food and wine against a beautiful backdrop.
What marriage means to us? The affirmation of the our beautiful little family (Stephen, Dannelle & Finn).
We saw the dress in the shop window of Dolores Promesas in Malaga, Spain.
It was the dress that actually prompted Stephen to propose in Spain (he was going to wait later until we returned to Australia).
We live close by to the NSW Writers’ Centre and often admired the old building on walks.
We were charmed by the beautiful old buildings, peacefulness in the abandonment of Callan Park and beauty of the old established trees.
Our Favourite Moment
Our favourite moment of the day was Finn’s reading of a passage from Dr Seuss’ ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ during the ceremony.
It was incredibly emotional and meaningful to all of us. It nearly brought all of us to our knees!
Helena Bailey (our celebrant) also added to the joy of the day.
Having Miss Helena from Romper Room marry us was a small thrill for me (Dannelle) who grew up with Romper Room in the early eighties and died a little death each time she did not see me through the magic mirror!
Helena brought warmth and joy to the day.
Studio Something was absolutely amazing! We asked for candid shots without intrusion. We wanted to enjoy our wedding and for the celebration to be relaxed and honest. This was really important to us and this is what we got.
We are both so happy and impressed by the photography and stop motion video. It is us. The images of ourselves, our friends and families candidly celebrating is really honest and true.
It is both a beautiful and honest account of a happy, fun-filled day.
JP and Amanda from The Roo Brothers (catering) were fabulous.
The catering was exceptional. JP’s experience and expertise really made the evening a stand out event.
Samantha Morris from Honey Lane was instrumental in making the venue so special and memorable. We shared our vision with Samantha and she made it happen. We could not have asked for more.
The Wedding Cake
The cake made by my mum was very special.
Isn’t it gorgeous? There is not one thing about it I don’t love, but my favourite details have to be all the jars with tealights (so effective when it’s done in bulk!) and that pretty welcome sign. Oh and Dannelle’s fab dress of course! What were yours?
Thanks so much to Studio Something, and of course, the wonderful Dannelle & Stephen for sharing their beautiful wedding with us. Congratulations!
