One of the great benefits of hiring a wedding planner, is that they tend to be unfazed by anything you throw at them.
A winter wedding… in a barn… in England? No problem.
Today we're sharing a styled shoot by the wonderful Weddings by Emily Charlotte, with Daisy Bailey Photography.
The two teamed up to create a chic, cosy, rustic winter wedding inspiration, that shows, not only is a barn the perfect backdrop for a festive celebration, but it's possible to kit it out in style (and on a budget) too.
Snug tartan, romantic hair styling, chic attire, and gorgeous blooms, if you're planning a cold weather bash – prepare to be inspired.

About The Shoot
I believe winter weddings are underrated in the UK so, in collaboration with Daisy Bailey Photography, I wanted to create a shoot that showed not just the beauty of a winter wedding, but also that you can also use typical summer venues during the winter months too.
So to that note, I held the shoot at The Yoghurt Rooms due to the gorgeous (and very big) barn available, and the stunning lake, which provided a fab photo opportunity (luckily the weather was on our side!)
For a winter wedding, there are two distinct styles to choose from; an opulent winter wonderland or a comforting and cosy winter warmer, in this case I went for the latter.
The inspiration for the shoot actually stemmed from a tartan blanket; hence it became a prominent feature throughout instead of a more traditional bridal shrug.
The finished product is a simple, laid-back winter wedding concept that could not only be recreated if on a budget (or expanded upon for couples looking for further detail) but could also be transferred to a variety of venue styles.
The Attire
Of course, a main consideration for any bride is what to wear!
White Mischief Bridal provided a beautiful, long sleeved, tulle dress by Jesus Peiro, and a simple Augusta Jones cathedral length veil for impact.
For the hair, I chose an updo, created by Sarah Ann Hair, so not to distract from the intricate lace detail on the top of the dress.
Finally, Emma Smith Make Up completed the look with soft and neutral bridal make up.
The Florals
I chose to use vibrant reds and rich blues, particularly in the florals.
The fantastic Fig Tree Flowers created some beautiful arrangements, mainly from a brief of just thistle and berries, including traditional roses and very striking blue/purple hydrangeas.
The Tablescape
I continued the berry theme through to the cake, designed and produced by Wicky Woo Woo Cakes, which was just perfect.
We kept it simple as I wanted to create a rustic winter dessert table with lots of candles and foliage…and of course some good Scottish Whisky to accompany the tartan.
The table design was intended to create a relaxed feel, so I used wooden bench tables and simple place settings, finished with just a single eryngium.
The red glasses, provided by Co-ordination Catering, were used as coloured glassware is fast becoming a key trend for 2016 weddings, plus, when combined with the hurricane arrangements, they gave the table a great pop of colour.
Isn't it pretty? I just love how anything is possible with weddings, all you need is a little creativity (and perhaps some room in your budget for heaters!). I just adore those faded hydrangeas for winter too – so beautiful.
