Once you have your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses, you should now have a clear idea of what you’re looking for as far as the overall style of your wedding day.

Now there’s just one more dress you need to take care of and it’s the cutest dress of all: the flower girl dress.

Fortunately, you now know how you and your bridal party will look as you walk down the aisle, so finding the perfect gown for the littlest lady in your group should be a cinch!

Here are some of Les Trois Soeurs’ quick tips for choosing a flower girl dress:

Not the Perfect Fit

Flower girl fittings are a little bit different from wedding and bridesmaid gowns, and that’s a good thing for you!

While your bridal dress needs to fit perfectly to the shape of your body and the hem needs to be just right, with the little ones, you can be more flexible.

Fluid soft silk dresses can loosely skim and don’t worry too much about the hem line, as it's ok for flower girls to have the skirt a little off the ground, even to their ankles or ballerina length.

One Size Up

Because flower girls are usually quite young, there is likely to be some growth between the time that you pick the dress and the wedding day, but don’t worry!

Order a size or two up from what she’s currently wearing (depending on your timings and the age of your little one), and you will be fine.

Bonus knowledge: Made to order dresses from Dessy Girl and Nicki McFarlane are made with about a 1” seam allowance, making them easy to let out if your little darling grows faster than expected.

No Appointment Necessary

Flower girls do not necessarily need to try the dress on for fit before ordering. This means that if you are very stretched for time, you may not have to work a fitting in to your busy schedule.

As the bride, you can pick the dress you want for your flower girl and send her measurements to the stylist or you can even order online from a range of hand selected pieces at Les Trois Soeurs Online Boutique delivered straight to your door.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to see the flower girl in her dress before you make a final decision, you can have her try it on and get it measured right away on the same day.

Popular Hues

Looking to be on trend? Right now the most popular colour for flower girls is ivory, often paired with a brilliant splash of colour such as blush, coral or pale sage green.

If you have specific colours for your wedding already picked out, consider having a sash designed to highlight that hue and really bring it all together.

The other most popular colours are champagne and full pastel colours like blush and pale blue.

Ask Her Opinion

The full skirt is largely the most popular, usually puffed up with tulle or organza.

This is your little princess, walking down the aisle before you as a miniature version of the bride! Give her the kind of dress she can twirl around in and we’re sure she’ll be overjoyed.

But if you’re flexible on the look for her gown, why not ask? Maybe she wants to look just like you and there’s a smaller version of your dress that she could wear for an extra special look.

Think About the Neckline

If at all possible, choose a dress with straps and a reasonably high neckline.

Not only will this be more comfortable for your flower girl, but it will prevent any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions on your big day!
