It's time to up the romance factor with this dreamy wedding in Portugal from Branco Prata. With florals and styling by Sofia and André behind the lens you can expect nothing less than magic.
Ligia and Pedro's inspiration was romantic meets classical with a modern twist. They chose soft pink and green for their colour scheme mainly inspired by Quinta da Camarinha – their historic (and perfectly pink) reception venue. And I absolutely adore the way that they included poetry, personal photos and beautiful words into their day.
Ligia wore a chic and modern wedding dress by Pronovias, the clean cut layers of tulle were nipped in at the waist with a sparkly belt. She completed her bridal look with a classic ballerina bun topped off with a retro headpiece, made by her mum.

The Ceremony
The ceremony was in a church but we chose the reading (from the ones allowed). There was also the reading of a poem “Para atravessar contigo o deserto do mundo” from a Portuguese poet Sophia de Mello Breyner. The priest was a friend from the groom so it was a very special ceremony.
Wedding Style & Vibe
We believe that from start to end the wedding had our print. The venue was exactly the place we were looking for. It had the style, glamour, romantic atmosphere that only old beautiful houses can give. We wanted to give the feeling that we were receiving guests in our own house so that people would feel comfortable and we do think we managed that. For that it also helped having some of our own furniture (nice important pieces for us) in there.
Décor & Details
The venue was very romantic so we wanted to keep that stile. For that we chose a pale colour palette going from the pink to the beige and green. For the decoration we had the amazing help from Sofia Ferreira, Branco Prata. She turned the place into something really special that matched our style.
There were different spots with flowers, candles, words and pictures. We also did some DIY ourselves as we did the menus, colourful windmills and we wrote the poem that set the background for some of the pictures. We also had a Polaroid frame that was made by Pedro’s father.
The Refreshments
As the venue started refreshments were provided together with lots of starters. Starters included flavours from all over the world as Morocco and India. This was followed by a formal sit down meal with Portuguese food. To finish a chocolate and berries wedding cake was served with ice cream.
The Music
I walked down the aisle to Mendelssohn's wedding march. This was a traditional wedding and on the basis we wanted to keep it like that but to give it a twist Pedro went into the Church at the sound of Queen “I was born to love you”. The rings were exchanged at the sound of Andrew Lloyd Webber's “All I ask of you” from Phantom Of The Opera. During the ceremony we still had “Amazing Grace”, Gospel and “Ave Maria” from Schubert. We went out of the church as a married couple to the sound of “Somebody to love” from Queen.
The venue had important moments as the reception of our family and friends, the vows exchange and the cut of the wedding cake and for that we chose music from Muse and Florence and the Machine as they are powerful and breath-taking and we really love them. The first dance song was a medley. It started with Dirty Dancing went to Grease, Florence and Machine and it finished with a waltz. After that it was 80’s, 90’s and dance music all night long.
The Photography & Videography
I fell in love with the work that André of Branco Prata does and I knew it had to be him. His natural yet very romantic style was exactly what we were looking to eternalize our day. The same happened with the videographer, The Amazing Rabbit. We used to say that they belong to the same school as they have the same style and they complement each other’s work. We were really happy with the final result.
Favourite Moment
My favourite moment was the vows as it is what it is all about at the end, the love.
Advice For Other Couples
I think we were really lucky as we started planning 5 months in advance but being on a Friday in May definitely helped. We managed to have all the vendors we wanted. And that is really important as having the ones you connect with and that are really professionals can make a difference on the day. Search the web as much as possible as you get ideas and inspiration. I followed Branco Prata's blog every day for the tips and pictures. Pinterest is also great as you can just add pics you like and they go back and make your own style.
