The Romantic Meets The Industrial

The easiest way to add an instantly cool, unique, and stylish feel to your wedding is to mix things up.

Carefully chosen colour palettes and matching details are so elegant and timeless, but if you’re looking for something a little more edgy and modern, contrasting your inspiration is the way to go.

Which is why I’m so smitten with today’s industrial wedding shoot. A cool warehouse backdrop and current copper and glass bulb decor, adorned with romantic style, marble cakes, textured florals, and pretty paper goods.

There’s a lot of details to sink your wedding planning teeth into. And there’s doughnuts.

Captured by Jeff Brummett Visuals, planned and designed by Keestone Events, and featuring the talents of a whole host of North Texas vendors, this is how you blend two ideas and come up with something chic, cohesive, and rather gorgeous…

The juxtaposition between both the romantic and industrial was the goal we were aiming for, in trying to combine two words that are beautiful in their own way, but one that most typically don’t see together.

Fusing the two created different textures, from the natural palette of lush greenery and florals to the linear strands of bulbs and clear glass.

The venue was the perfect setting to achieve this tone. Hickory Street Annex is a historic loft-style space built in the 1920s, which has a ton of character with exposed brick, concrete floors and walls and steel-lined windows.

We played up the industrial vibes and wealth of textures already present in the venue by hanging large Edison bulbs and adding steel café chairs, intricate chargers with an industrial flare, lightbulbs in the garland and subtle copper details throughout.

Cleggraphy Designs created intricate stationery that combined the soft romantic elements by using a natural seed paper and added the subtle copper touches to balance the overall look. This look was also carried out into the place settings and menu cards.

Similar to the stationery, the textures in the florals of Sage Fine Florals mimicked the industrial ambiance of the venue by adding more structure and interest through the wild grasses and succulents and the soft palette of blush florals and lush greenery softened these stronger elements.

We wanted to achieve a romantic look that was simultaneously edgy, and went for the softest blush gown with the most dramatic, ruffled organza train.

To continue playing on the industrial vibe, Lip Service Makeup went with a dark smoky eye, and bright red lips to stand out against the dress.

Ultimately, we wanted to have a shoot that was a blend of both the romantic yet mechanized, brimming with texture and elegance.
