Amazing Beach Wedding in the Philippines

We’re kicking off the week with a real wedding that’s so freakin’ gorgeous we can hardly believe our luck.

Felix & Iza are a stylish couple who live in Dubai, but chose to get married in their native Philippines – and when you see their spectacular beach wedding at Bohol Beach Club, you’ll agree it was worth the trip.

Choosing one of our fave Filipino photographers to document their day, Burtz from Blinkbox Photos captured all the colour of their setting, the emotion of their ceremony, and some stunning portraits of the loved-up bride and groom.

We’re particularly in love with Iza’s custom-made wedding dress (we can’t believe she only had two fittings!), her amazing protea bouquet, and one of the coolest escort card tables we’ve ever seen.

In fact, there were so many beautiful details from this bash, it was impossible to fit them all on one page, so make sure you check through the gallery to see more from this very special occasion…

Our Love Story

Both of us met in Dubai where we are working. We were initially introduced by our common friends during a dinner gathering. However, we didn’t talk at all that evening.

After a month, he came over to join us for bowling and dinner. We, then, started talking and got to know each other. Soon after that, he started courting me.

He continued to pursue me for a couple of months despite his unrequited feelings. His persistence and sincerity finally won me over. Since then, he gave me the commitment I have longed for.

We have always envisioned a casual, relaxed and intimate ceremony by the beach, which actually reflects our personalities.

Bohol, Philippines, with its beautiful beaches and considerable prices, was our top choice.  It is, also, near my hometown, Cebu.

We chose Bohol Beach Club for our reception because it boasts a very nice and vast shoreline.  With its clear waters, white sand, numerous coconut trees and well-kept grounds, we instantly fell in love with the place.

The Style & Decor

My gown was custom-made by a designer my mom has trusted over the years. I gave him an idea of the dress that I wanted and with his own design, he surprised me by using a nude color underneath the white lace.  It was beautiful!  And he made it so perfectly that I had no more than two fittings!

Everything from my stunning bouquet, the  flowers, boutonnieres, church and reception details were all styled by Gizelle from Cuckoo Cloud Concepts.  I just gave her a few ideas on how we wanted our wedding to be and I left the rest to her amazing talent.

For our favors, we gave out Bohol delicacies in a small native bag.  In addition, we also handed out native fans for the church ceremony and beach slippers during the reception.

Blinkbox Photos was one of the photographers our stylist had recommended and we couldn’t be happier with our choice.  Not only our photos were captured so beautifully by this talented team, but they were the most fun to work with. Burtz’s energy and sense of humor made us feel comfortable from the moment we met him.

As I was walking down the aisle, my 3-year old son (who was the ring bearer), ran down to hold my hand. He began crying as soon as I took my father’s hand.

After the ceremony, the guests were led outside the church for cocktails and refreshments.  We offered them Philippine delicacies paired with their famous hot chocolate.  While guests were enjoying their drinks, they were serenaded by Loboc Children’s Choir, a renowned singing group composed of school children.

For our dinner reception, we had a buffet that mainly served Filipino dishes.

Our advice for other couples? Stick to your budget, (or maybe, just go over a bit!). Do not be afraid to cut costs on a few things. Get vendors that will fit your budget. You will be surprised on how they will exceed your expectations.

To cut on our costs, we opted to have the minimal number for the bridal party. We, also, decided to forego getting a professional wedding planner. We just had a coordinator in Bohol to help us with the logistics and an on-the-day coordinator. My talented family members, who had a lot of connections, were very supportive and helped in so many ways.

We didn’t take a trip after our wedding since we wanted to spend time with our families whom we see only once or twice a year.
