How To Feel Like A Princess (Or Prince) On Your Wedding Day

Every bride or groom wants to feel special on their wedding day. Let’s face it, how many times in your life will you get to have an entire day, where everyone you love stops what they’re doing, and celebrates you and your other half.

It’s pretty great!

But between running around with wedding planning, juggling budgets, and trying not to ‘make a fuss’, a lot of couples don’t take time to really lap it all up.

So today we’re teaming up with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons to share ways to really indulge in the occasion. Embracing your inner prince or princess on your wedding day is not about having lots of cliches, costly details or being ‘high maintenance’. It just means including a few touches that will make you feel truly special.

Stuck for ideas? We have a few up our sleeves!

All About the Attire

As the saying goes, ‘Dress for the job you want.” And if you want the roll of princess for a day you need to dress the part.

For some brides that will be the big classic ballgown, for others it could be a regal cathedral length veil or a cool kimono style wedding dress with dramatic sleeves.

For grooms it might mean amping things up with a tuxedo, or you might feel more comfortable in an open neck shirt and separate blazer.

Even if you play it simple with your outfits, splash out on some special accessories; your dream heels, some sparkly earrings, an heirloom hair accessory, or some gorgeous lingerie.

Only you know what brings out your inner, ‘I feel great in this!’, so make sure you harness that in your wedding day attire.

Pamper Sesh

No bona fide prince or princess leaves their wedding grooming to chance. You don’t see Kate Middleton rock up to an event with hastily applied lipstick!

If you can, make room in your budget for professional hair and make-up, not only will you look awesome, but it will take a lot of the stress away from your pre-wedding prep too. If you’re doing your own, leave lots of time, and get plenty of practise in beforehand.

Guys, why not grab a few buddies and head for a hot towel shave or a steam for a real VIP experience?

Make sure you make an occasion of getting ready. Whether it’s with your other half or your bridal party, pop the cork on a Champagne breakfast, put on a luxurious robe, get some great tunes on, and relax for a few hours before all the madness begins.

Your wedding day is your red carpet moment, so treat yourself like a star!

The Regal Details

So we may not all be working with a royal budget, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add princess-worthy touches throughout your day.

Arrive in style, with a vintage car (or a horse and carriage!). Walk up the aisle on a carpet of rose petals. Sip on pink bubbly at the cocktail hour. Or fill your reception space with an abundance of candles.

You could opt for a sweetheart table so you and your new spouse can sit together and look out on your day (that’s pretty regal!) or go for some gorgeous chair decor or signage so your seats look a little more bespoke.

Weddings are all in the details, so think about what would feel special for you, whether that’s a fairytale theme in a ballroom venue, or a red carpet entrance to a cool rooftop setting.

Splash out with a five-tiered wedding cake or a big band to serenade your first dance, or keep it simple with twinkling fairylights and a sparkler send-off – you really can get creative with this one!

Say ‘I Do’ At Disney

There’s no place on earth that says ‘prince’ or ‘princess’ quite like Disneyland. So if you’re looking for an unabashedly regal feel for your day, this is the place to say ‘I do’.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons go above and beyond to create a unique experience for every single couple who get married across their venues and resorts.

From their planning services and in-house vendors to their choice of venues and accommodation, you’ll be pampered like a princess, treated like a prince, and get the ultimate Disney touch throughout your day.

To indulge your inner princess you can arrive in a pumpkin carriage, say your vows in front of the iconic castle and have a Cinderella foot soldier carry your ring in a glass slipper up the aisle. If you’re looking for something more alternative, you could opt for an intimate garden ceremony, then have an Arabian nights feel to your Aladdin-inspired reception.

The options are endless, and with destinations in California, Florida, Hawaii and beyond, you can create your own kind of fairytale wedding – whatever that means for you.
