Elegant Christmas Wedding with Chic Timeless Style

aguyandagirlphotography.com

Christmas is very nearly upon us (only six more sleeps!) and as we wind down our real weddings for the year, we couldn’t think of a more fitting one to go out on.

Gena and Dominick tied the knot with a cosy December wedding, filled with sparkling style, festive decor and a lashings of winter romance.

We’re so excited to share their gorgeous pictures by A Guy + A Girl Photography, and maybe even inspire your very own Christmas wedding!

Gena made the most beautiful bride, (her Carolina Herrera wedding dress is so elegant) while Dominick kept it classic too in a sharp custom-made tux – and the bridesmaids added the perfect touch of glamour in gold gowns.

With attention to detail in everything from their choice of flowers (so Christmassy!), to choice of favours (almonds and charms all the way from Greece and a donation in honour of the bride’s late godfather) made this wedding a special one for their guests.

Our Love Story

Dominick and I met in the most unlikely of places, the Boston Sports Club in Cambridge, MA. We were introduced to each other because we both attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.

Little did we know, we also lived just a few blocks away from each other in Cambridge, grew up 20 minutes apart in Westchester County, graduated two years apart and studied abroad in St. Andrews, Scotland. Looking back now, it just felt meant to be!

On our third date, I referenced visiting my favorite hot dog stand, Walter’s in Mamaroneck, NY.. a local landmark. Most people would have said it was too soon to talk about going home together, I didn’t think twice and Dominick didn’t flinch at my suggestion.

Flash forward two and a half years, Dominick proposed to me after eating Walter’s hot dogs at a park overlooking the water.

I didn’t think that I could have been more surprised until we arrived at a restaurant for celebratory drinks and our families were waiting to surprise us. Dominick had thought of every last detail of the day, down to asking my mom to bring me a white dress to change into!

Our Wedding

Dominick and I got engaged in November 2014 and knew right away that we wanted a winter wedding.

Our colors were deep reds, creams and golds for the season and played up the gorgeous decorations that Coveleigh already had for Christmastime. The managers of Coveleigh even surprised us by having the entire dock lit up with twinkle lights.

It was a pleasure working with Alice Norwick and her team. We had a mix of gorgeous and romantic flowers – peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, sweet peas, jasmine, gardenias, stephanotis and anemones.

We incorporated my sister’s wedding flower, calla-lilies into her bouquet to distinguish her as our maid of honor. Our centerpieces were a mix of flowers from our bouquets and were placed in gold vases that varied in shape and size. We also had large floral arrangements around the club that included candy striped amaryllises, snap dragons, hydrangeas, herbs and genestra.

We wanted to work with the warmth and joy that Christmas time brings and complement it with our floral arrangements and signs. My friend, Rachel Shuman Armentano of Harbor Stationery, helped us add to our vision by creating gorgeous signs. She was even able to weave my love of polka dots into our escort cards! Rachel also created a custom monogram for our invitations which we used throughout the wedding.

Favourite Moments

Dominick and I set out to have a cozy, classic, winter wedding and that’s exactly how we felt. It is hard to pick a favorite moment – seeing each other for the first time at the altar, listening to the heartfelt toasts, dancing up a storm! One of the most memorable moments was arriving at our reception and having a moment to ourselves before our pictures started.

We enjoyed the food we had so carefully picked, recapped our mornings and watched our guests enjoy the cocktail hour. It was a perfect moment to just be together and take in how special the day truly was for us. Our day was filled with so much love. It also didn’t hurt that we had a 65 degree day and our guests were outside for cocktail hour – pretty unheard of in December!

Danielle Elder and her team from Classic Events NYC were invaluable during the months leading up to the wedding and on the day of. She kept us organized and made sure that every ounce of our vision was seen through to completion.

After looking through NY Magazine’s Wedding issue, we found A Guy + A Girl. We loved the vibrant and fun nature of their photographs and knew that they would capture all of the moments of our day in their unique way. Lauren and Michael were incredibly warm and knowledgeable and wanted to do everything possible to capture our candid moments.
