Today’s real wedding, with its pretty pastel lilac details and smart navy and white striped decor, looks fresh, elegant and timeless.

Lisa & Peter got married with a beautiful outdoor ceremony and fun reception at the idyllic Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville. Lisa looked stunning in a simple, yet stylish Vera Wang wedding dress, while Peter was a striking groom in his custom suit with stars and stripes lining.

From the Bride

I have always loved Cheekwood and the peacefulness of the grounds.

We wanted to honor the beautiful and peaceful setting at Cheekwood — we went with greens and neutrals with pops of lavender to match the bridesmaid’s dresses.

We had a family friend officiate the wedding, which was very special to us.

For the catering, we did food stations with a smaller wedding cake and our favorite tea cakes from a local bakery.

We had a great first conversation with our photographer, Jamie Clayton and really enjoyed his work as well as his personality, he became a friend during the process.

Our favorite moment was everyone out on the dance floor together having a good time.

Our advice would be not to get hung up on what everyone else is telling you is important to do — just do what feels right to you two.

Sara Fried of Fête Nashville tells us more about this beautiful wedding…

The major focal point of the wedding decor was the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum of Art.

The ceremony was in the formal Wills Perennial Garden garden. A steep limestone wall provides both habitat and background for this colorful, full-sun garden filled with asters, salvias, sunflowers, rudbeckias and ornamental grasses.

Guests have a 180’ view of layered Tennessee rolling hills from the garden.

The ladies’ bouquets were gorgeous peonies, ranunculus, white anemone with navy blue centers wrapped in navy/white handmade ribbon.

The groom loves the American Flag… he had the flag design custom made into the lining of his suit and all the groomsmen wore flag socks!

On the dance floor, we had all kinds of glow in the dark flags and accessories and the groomsmen decorated Peter’s beloved Jeep/their exit car with flags, lights and beer cans.

Elegant navy and white stripes silk runners lined all the reception tables with beautiful magnolia leave garland centerpieces, and each navy napkin hand-tied with a blue/white striped ribbon. Guests danced all night under a custom chandelier covered in magnolia leaves.

We truly complemented our formal garden surroundings with natural decor and touches of navy!
