Contemporary Multi-Cultural Wedding Inspiration

Multicultural Wedding Inspiration by Wedding Tam Photography 37

So much of wedding planning is about balancing tradition with your own personal tastes and style, and even more so when you come from a different cultural background.

Today, we’ve got a beautiful shoot by Wendy Tam Photography, that’s all about including both the customary and the contemporary in your wedding day.

With a cool, modern and authentic backdrop in Back Bay, Boston, this shoot fuses traditional Chinese details, modern twists on Asian-inspired style, and romantic touches that any couple will be inspired by.

Whether you’re planning your own multi-cultural wedding, looking for ways to include your partner’s culture in your day, planning a traditional tea ceremony or incorporating traditional attire into your wedding day look, this modern take on a Chinese wedding will give you lots of ideas for honoring traditions, while reflecting your own style.

From the Photographer

The idea for an Asian-inspired styled shoot originated from the increasing number of multicultural love stories I have heard from my couples.

It is very important for couples to create a wedding that celebrates their roots and culture.

Most traditional Asian restaurants lack the sophisticated decor that modern couples adore.

This makes Red Lantern Bar and Lounge the perfect choice for a venue. Red Lantern combines Chinese decor and sculptures with modern and western architecture providing the perfect backdrop for a multicultural wedding.

Red is the ceremonial color of weddings in the Chinese cultural. Fleur Events uses the perfect bouquet and table settings to compliment the red and gold dinnerware, echoing the harmony between Antique Victorian and Chinese motifs.

Thematic and symbolic parallels continue with suspended red lanterns and red peonies, both symbolizing a prosperous union and security.

The traditional gown and the phoenix headdress are a contrast to the urban city setting.

Love Notes by June created a post-ceremony hair style which is the perfect alternative for Chinese brides who want a more subtle style to compliment the ornate stitching and beading of a Chinese gown.

With this styled shoot, we are hoping to inspire couples to incorporate different details from their cultures to make their wedding truly unique.
