Real Weddings/Chic Weddings

Stylish, Intimate & Romantic Wedding in Tuscany

Romantic & Intimate Tuscan Wedding by Adrian Wood Photography 94

Your day is about to get about one hundred per cent prettier, because this real wedding is just insanely gorgeous.

Annie and Bruce are a stylish San Francisco couple who made the journey to Italy with their closest friends and family to tie the knot – and as you can imagine, their destination wedding was a dreamy one.

A garden ceremony, a pool side cocktail hour, and dinner outside under string lights (my favourite kind of reception!), it was pretty much the Tuscan wedding dream – and that’s before we get on to their stunning vineyard portraits, by Adrian Wood Photography.

From the venue at Poggio Piglia, to the decor by Cindy Salgado Wedding Design & Events, to the incredible bridal party style (look out for Annie’s super chic reception dress!), this celebration is unadulterated eye candy – but it’s also romantic, intimate and most of all, fun.

Our Love Story

We unexpectedly found love on a dating app! We were each other’s first date on the app and somehow hit it off.

We met up at a bar in San Francisco and found ourselves talking for hours.

My girlfriends texted me to make sure I was okay as they didn’t hear back from me for hours (they were waiting at a bar two blocks down) only to find out that we were having a great first date.

The Proposal

One of our favorite places is Napa and Sonoma (wine country). Bruce had planned a romantic getaway at Carneros Inn and booked several wine tastings for the weekend. I didn’t think much of it because we go to Napa often.

Little did I know, he arranged the perfect proposal at Hamel Family Winery. Bruce and I did a gorgeous tasting in front of the vineyards and were enjoying the beautiful fall day when he started to talk about our relationship.

As I was unaware of his plans, I continued to converse with him until he started to smile big and began to tell me all the things he loved about me. He got down on one knee and popped the big question as I had tears streaming down my face.

I couldn’t believe what was happening and was so emotional from Bruce’s words about me, us and forever.

I didn’t know at the time but all the emotions were caught by a photographer.

We enjoyed an amazing lunch cooked by the winery’s chef in their beautiful dining room overlooking the picturesque vineyard. Bruce had one last big surprise that day as we headed back to the hotel and found my whole family there to celebrate with us!

It was a day to remember forever.

The Setting

Our wedding was “Tuscan chic.”

We chose Poggio Piglia as our venue as we fell in love with it the first time we visited it.

The peaceful, open views of the Tuscany landscape, the exposed brick villas, the well manicured plants and trees, the pool, and the amazing meals at Poggio Piglia made it our first choice when deciding where to celebrate our big day.

Our wedding color palette for flowers and decor were whites, with touches of pinks and natural greens.

We had our ceremony under a gorgeous flower arch with live violinists. Our reception dinner was held under string lights in a garden overlooking the Tuscany landscape.

The Planning

After extensive research, we decided to have Cindy Salgado help us bring our imaginations to reality. She has a flawless team that excel in what they do.

We chose Cindy Salgado after seeing the work she has done and meeting her via Skype! She is bubbly and easy to work with. We felt at ease talking to her especially because we were planning a destination wedding and weren’t there to physically see or plan.

She has a great group of vendors that she works with.

I put together a few boards on Pinterest of flowers, decor and overall ambiance we were going for and Cindy’s team came through with all our expectations.

The Photography

After browsing through Adrian’s site, we thought his style best matched ours.

We loved how he captured raw emotions and special moments. His work truly reflects the subjects and the story they are telling.

He not only captures the subjects but also captures the surrounding objects and environment that help in the story telling.

Favourite Moments

Our wedding was so ‘us’ because we kept it small and intimate. We had our closest family and friends spend the week leading up to our wedding day with us at Poggio Piglia.

We went wine tasting, explored Tuscany and enjoyed amazing meals with the people we love most. We were never stressed on our wedding day as we got to really enjoy getting ready with our bridesmaids and groomsmen.

There were so many favorite moments on our wedding day but some of the most memorable ones were:

– When my dad walked me down the aisle where he had a heart to heart with me.

-Seeing Bruce waiting for me under the beautiful arch for our ceremony.

-Enjoying many courses of amazing Tuscan food and wine at our reception dinner!

-Dancing the night away with our best friends and family.

Advice for Other Couples

If you’re planning a destination wedding, I would recommend getting a wedding planner in the area that knows good vendors to work with!

Create as many Pinterest boards as you need to organize every aspect of your wedding.

On your wedding day, just remember that the key is to really be in the moment and savor every bit of it with your friends and family!

The Honeymoon

Since we took two weeks off for our wedding in Italy, we will be going on our honeymoon this May.

We are going back to Europe! We are very excited for Paris, Bordeaux, Morocco and London.
