We do enjoy a touch of whimsy around here, and today’s gorgeous real wedding has it in abundance with balloons, flowers, and sweet signage throughout.

Adrienne and Eric got married at the idyllic Historic Cedarwood in Nashville, with a wedding I just know lots of you will be pinning wildly.

After their unplugged ceremony, the couple paid homage to their former home in Miami and their boat trip engagement, with personalised cocktails and a beautiful ‘Sail Away With Me’ display above the top table. Pink roses and gorgeous greenery adorned every detail of their day, mixing bud vases and big floral centrepieces for their table decor.

Our Love Story

We met in graduate school at William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He was studying to become a lawyer and I was getting my school counseling degree.

For the proposal, Eric took me on a surprise weekend getaway to the Florida Keys.

He rented a sailboat that took us around the ocean for hours and at sunset he got down on one knee and proposed.

Our Wedding

It was important to me to include special touches of who we are as a couple.

Eric had inscribed “With you, I am home” on my wedding band and our venue decorated a sign with those words.

Eric and I lived in Miami for a year before we moved to Nashville, and as a tribute to our time there and our engagement story we served “Sail Away With Me Mojitos.” For the cocktail hour, I surprised Eric with a trio of musicians we had seen at a coffee shop shortly after we moved to Nashville.

For the reception, we hired a local band to play some traditional Nashville country mixed with other genres.

Favourite Details

The giant balloons that my bridesmaids and I posed with added a perfect touch of whimsy to our photos. After we posed with them, my mom and future mother-in-law let them go and made a wish for each of their children.

I also loved having our dog, Teddy, as part of the wedding. We couldn’t imagine him not being a part of the big day!

The Photography

I fell in love with Krista Lee’s photography style when I was researching Cedarwood, our venue. Once we met, I knew for sure I wanted her to be our photographer.

Her style is fresh and modern and she has a great personality.

Advice for Other Couples

I used websites like The Knot and Wedding Wire to research different aspects of the wedding.

One thing we did to save money was to buy some of our paper goods from Etsy as digital downloads. Then we just printed them off at a copy shop.

On the day advice that I would give would be to expect things to go wrong and accept that not everything will be perfect.

The Honeymoon

We weren’t able to take a long vacation after the wedding due to our jobs, but we took a three day ‘mini-moon’ to Gatlinburg, TN. It was great to be able to get away for a few days.

We are planning to have a longer honeymoon this summer and go somewhere tropical.
