Artistic DIY Wedding with a Gorgeous Green Dress

Bracelets, bowties, bonnets and flowers in their hair, today’s real wedding is chic, creative, and lots of fun.

Rita & Alberto tied the knot in the scenic region of La Mancha in central Spain. Their DIY wedding was a family effort, and everyone flexed their creativity from the handmade bow tie and bracelet favours, to the hand-painted table plan and menus. Even their ceremony was made just for them, and lead by themselves and their family.

The creativity extended to the brides stunning wedding day style too – I think a lot of brides will consider adding a sweep of colour to their wedding day look when they see Rita rock her backless green lace Raquel Ferreiro gown!

With photography by Lorena San José (who always captures the coolest Spanish weddings!), this is one laid back, romantic and stylish affair.

Oh and wait until you hear about how these two got engaged…

Our Love Story

We had friends in common, we met at 19, but we only started going out at 26.

The proposal was online! We got engaged via WeChat!

Our wedding in three words? Handmade, colourful, La Mancha skies.

Our Wedding

It’s was a handmade wedding, with help from the whole family. My mother prepared the boxes for the bracelets, the pallets for the shoes and the little boxes for the free bar.

The bow ties and headpieces of my family were made by my bridesmaid and by cousin Ana. My aunt Pilar drew the menu.

All the florals were by Floristería San Antonio (owned by the family of my sister-in-law Diana).  I wore some flowers in my headpiece that are special to me, so our mothers wore a white gardenia, my sisters-in-law orchids, my cousins and two childhood friends wore tuberoses.

For the ceremony my cousin was the master of ceremonies and her brother played the piano.

After the ceremony, at the free bar there were sweets from Arabia. Our tables were marked in colours so that guests could find their seating.
