Chic, Romantic and Oh-So-Pretty Muslim Wedding Reception

Mariam & Abdul married with a ceremony and reception on separate days – and their marquee reception and romantic golden hour portrait session were captured, so beautifully, by Ivy & Ellis Photography in his dreamy natural light style.

A spring wedding, Mariam & Abdul’s day was filled with blooms, the tables were adorned with lanterns and green and white linens, with chic retro table numbers. But I think you’ll agree, it’s the styling that really sets this day apart.

From Mariam’s incredible throwback bridal style, to Abdul’s sharp suit and expert dab, and their beautiful beaming bridal party, this wedding is crushing it in the style stakes.

This wedding was unique in many respects, and such a treat to shoot.

It was my first Muslim wedding and, as I learned, it contained only the reception (the ceremony itself was held on another day).

Springtime is such a special time for a wedding day, and this wedding featured so many of the aspects that make springtime wonderful.

I worked these into the photos, from the soft lilac blooms to the beautiful lake, you can see the spirit of Spring all over this wedding.

Mariam was beautiful in her Amy Kuschel gown purchased at boutique dress shop Che Bella Boutique in Minneapolis.

I found the birdcage veil (purchased on Etsy by designer Leslie Li), the bridal caplet and shawl to be elegant and highly fashionable.

My favorite moment from this wedding was when we got a chance to escape from the crowds at golden hour (the hour before sunset).

The light is always soft and dreamy at this time. Since I am a natural light & film wedding photographer, I always cherish the beautiful colors and soft pastel tones that you’ll get in the images around this time.

During these photos the joy of being just married really sink in. Their natural chemistry, grace and love that Mariam & Abdul have for each other really came through in the pics on the dock and it was a very special way to end the day.
