Glitter, Leather, & Monochrome; Modern Wedding Inspiration

For any couple who’s looking to shake up their wedding decor and style their day in their own unique and modern way, I think today’s shoot will be the perfect inspiration.

Fusing a mix of contemporary design, a chic minimal palette, dark, edgy florals and cool bridal style – with flashes of neon, glitter, leather and gold – this is for the brides or grooms who want a wedding day that’s more East London than English countryside.

Photographed by Siobhan H Photography and planned and styled by Heart Shaped Weddings, the shoot features the talents of a whole slew of great London wedding vendors in a cool raw space wedding venue in Hackney.

I don’t know which part I want to steal more, the neon sign or the leather jacket – and I might just swipe that cutlery while I’m at it too…

From the Stylist

I wanted to create a shoot that showed that you could incorporate a little edge and a non-traditional colour palette into your wedding day, yet still create something that is extremely beautiful and super stylish!

What a find The Old Dairy was. It is such an exciting industrial space to completely make your own.

High ceilings, bright-white walls, worn concrete floors and its very own swing! It was the perfect backdrop for An Edgy Romance.

I used modern pieces of furniture such as the black drinks trolley and ghost chairs to which I added the gold detailing. Gold and black accents were used throughout the set-ups to create a modern cohesive look.

Herbert & Isles created effortless and relaxed flowers with a hint of drama, using white proteas and black tulips accompanied with foliage that they foraged the day before!

For Roxana, our model, I asked for plaits, smokey eyes and gold sparkle – Cass (hair) & Mariam (make-up) completely delivered!

I paired this look with pieces by Otaduy – I love their designs, they manage to create styles that are full of fun yet simultaneously effortless and cool.

I loved teaming their ‘Run’ lace cropped top with ‘Kahlo’, the floatiest and softest of skirts, and of course the ‘Rhianna’ leather jacket of dreams!

The ceremony layout has a modern and stylish feel, I loved the idea of having the Bag & Bones neon “And so it begins” sign as the backdrop for the I dos and softening the look with the foliage.

The cake by Claire Owen Cakes with its super crisp black top and bottom tiers with gilded leaf detail, sandwiching the splatter design of the second tier was perfect and echoed the style of the stationery suite by Paper Arrow Press.
