The cake at this cozy coffee shop elopement will make your mouth water

What goes perfect with coffee? Donuts. What goes even better with coffee? Donuts and cake. We here at Bridal Musings feel particularly passionate about “the more the merrier” in the dessert catagory, and we can’t help but stop, stare and drool over the donut cake in today’s sultry, cozy, cafe elopement shoot.

Beyond the obviously delicious dessert table, we love the intimate feel of this dimly lit coffee shop, which could serve as a fantastic alternative venue for an elopement or full fledged wedding event. The moody, dark brick walls are contrasted with light colored blooms, and a airy, romantic gown. And you see that sparkle? The glittering bodice make this casual coffee shop affair a bit more luxe, and fanciful.

Our coffee shop elopement shoot was inspired by the photographer, Melody Joy. Melody mentioned that she would love to shoot a unique bride who wanted to get married at a coffee shop, her Instagram is well known for her beautiful photos of coffees, so she was the perfect fit to be our photographer. I also am a former barista and coffee enthusiast, so this theme was very fitting. The aesthetic and styling was inspired by the many moody and warm coffee shops in the Chicago area. This is also a unique styled shoot because many times, a wedding planner initiates the shoot, but I ran with my idea and viewed it as a way to bring my idea to life and have the freedom to design stationery and signage in line with the theme.

We wanted the elopement shoot to be very intimate and cozy, somewhat casual but still elegant, and full of beautiful details to inspire other coffee-loving couples. The team of vendors are all local to Chicago and the models are personal friends of some of the vendors, all of which contributed to the vendors feeling like family and a close group of wonderful people to work with.

Our advice to brides is to take something that is unique to you and highlight it in your day, whether it’s a wedding or elopement. If you love coffee and frequenting coffee shops, have your wedding there! There are no rules – do what works for you.
