The Ozarks are a region of America I truly know little about, but after scrolling through this incredibly scenic, boho wedding I’m in a Google frenzy to see what it’s all about.

To Morgan and Trent, the wedding venue that they would share with their closest family and friends was of upmost importance. After searching both near and far they came across Top of the Rock chapel in Missouri, an ornate stone chapel perched on top of a hill overlooking the vast, picturesque Ozarks.

When you choose a venue of such beauty, there’s normally not much work to do decor wise. Their florist, however, took their space to the next level of pretty. After sending their gorgeous work from Louisiana, Morgan’s mother arranged their magnificent floral cross altar. We can’t stop gazing.

Our Love Story

Trent and I originally met at church several years ago. We had a lot of mutual friends and had even been together in a group that went out to eat after church. One night and I can remember sitting across from one another talking the whole night, but it wasn’t until about two years later that Trent asked me on a date. It was all history from there.

Trent’s sister and brother in law live nearby and have the most beautiful view of sunsets in the pasture behind their house so Trent decided that’s where he wanted to propose. He sat out in that pasture several days in a row to time out the sunset perfectly.

He told me that we had a couples wedding shower to go to for a friend of his that was getting married (good excuse for us to be dressed up) and that we were just going to stop by his sister’s house on the way to pick up their gift because they weren’t going to be able to go.

When we got there, we pulled around the house to the pasture and he had this sweet setup with flower petals and a bench that he had built himself. We sat on the bench and he told me all the things he loved about me and asked me to be his wife. Afterwards, he had planned a party where all of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us!

The Style

I knew before going to try on wedding dresses that I really wanted one with sleeves. I fell in love with the second dress I tried on and knew that it was the dress for me.

Trent wore a navy suit with a pink floral tie. His dad, who officiated the ceremony, and my brother, who walked me down the aisle, also wore navy and a floral tie. Our families also stuck to color scheme of blush, champagne, and navy.

The Setting

I knew from the very beginning that I wanted our wedding to be intimate and shared with those we are closest to. When trying to pick a venue, Trent and I were really open to all options. In my mind though, I had this vision of us getting married in a little chapel somewhere.

We spent a couple of weeks looking at venues near home and searching online for destination venues. We decided that we wanted our wedding to be close enough to home that our family and close friends could travel there. After finding Top of the Rock Chapel and realizing that it was only five hours away, we knew immediately that that was the venue we wanted to get married at. It was perfect!

I knew we wanted an outside reception. We found the perfect place at Sky Deck Branson. It overlooked the water and even had a fun zipline that we were able to use for our exit :)

I loved the idea of using blush, champagne, and navy as our wedding colors and adding a little pop of color in our florals. I also love the bohemian and rustic style and tried including that in the decorations as well.

The Ceremony

I loved that Trent’s dad was able to officiate the ceremony. It was so special to hear the wisdom from God that he spoke over us and the sweet stories that he told on that day.

It was also very special to me that my brother was able to walk me down the aisle. I don’t know which one was sweeter, the reaction on Trent’s face or my brother’s as I walked down the aisle.

We decided we would write our own vows and wow was that special! Hearing the vows that Trent wrote and the promises he made that day is especially one of my favorite memories.

Also, we had a time during the ceremony where we asked family and friends to come to the front and pray over us and our marriage. I love that God was such a big part of our ceremony.

We decided not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen but wanted those same family members and friends to be a special part of our day. We had them get ready with us and spend the morning with us on the day of the wedding which was very special to both of us.

The Special Details

I was very close to my great grandmother and really wanted her to be a part of our wedding, even if she’s no longer here with us. I used one of her broaches that I always remembered her wearing and had it attached to my bouquet.

Our friends at Fine Folks did an amazing job with our flowers. I was able to meet with them one time, show them a picture of the flowers I liked, and they created the perfect arrangements for our day. On top of that, they had to send them from Louisiana to Branson and they did that with no problem. They were a great help and the flowers turned out just like I imagined.

The garland piece that was around the cross was not able to be made until the day of our wedding because the flowers were likely to die if made before. They sent the flowers with us but my mom was actually the one who decorated the garland which made it special to me.

Trent and I have three nieces that we asked to be our flower girls. I had handkerchiefs made for each of them with a sweet little note on them reminding them of how special they are to us.

The Reception

We had a three tier pink champagne flavored (the best!!!!) wedding cake. The cake itself was simple and we decorated it with flowers.

Oh and did I mention that the caterer that did all of our food for the reception and made our wedding cake traveled from Louisiana to Branson, Missouri just for us!! We truly were blessed with the best help for our special day!

Trent and I danced to “Sideways” by Citizen Cope. It was a song we listened to while dating so it was special to us. On one date in particular, we were out looking at stars, like we often did, in this field and Trent turned this song up and we danced to it under the stars.

Advice to Other Couples

My advice for couples planning their special day is to always remember what the day is truly all about. It is easy to get caught up in all of the chaos of planning and putting the day together just perfect but at the end of the day, it is truly all about you and the person that you are choosing to spend forever with. Soak up all the great memories of the day celebrating with the people you love.
