Cynthia and I are kindred spirits. When she contacted me to photograph her taco filled San Diego wedding last Fall I had my bags packed and ready. The day featured sparkling gowns, hip neon signs, a romantic dress, succulents, tacos – everything modern, hip, pretty and cool packed into one tiny space.
Set in an industrial shipping container gallery venue (didn’t we just say this would become a thing?!) the space was both design-forward and funky. While meticulously and artfully designed, the area lent laid-back party vibes. One shipping container hosted a photobooth and cocktail tables inside, another shipping container set up the DJ booth (pumping out killer latin music all night) and a third hosted the head table.
The tacos were out of this world. Cynthia coming from a Mexican family, they knew they needed a proper taqueria set up. They grilled carne asada, roasted pork and pineapple, pressed fresh tortillas, elote and made all my wedding food dreams come true. Let’s not forget the micheladas (beer cocktail plus chili salt) the essential San Diegan backyard buzz.
The wedding was lively, the style was so fresh and the vibes totally laid-back and fashionable, basically my own personal dream wedding (including their eco-friendly serveware!) So much so, that I can proudly say Cynthia & Clint inspired our own upcoming Baja taqueria wedding, we owe you one Cyn!
