Imagine roaming through the forest, on a walk or hike, and coming upon a clearing of star lanterns, wild but ornately arranged greenery and people dressed in whimsical gowns. We just wish we could stumble upon this magic, epic, fairy-tale wedding, hidden within the Floridian forests.

The great thing about building your marquee wedding on a clearing of land (in my humble opinion) is the easy addition of food trucks! Molly and Chris hired three different food trucks for their guests to choose from, talk about thinking about your loved ones!

For her gown, Molly searched for a Snow White inspired wedding dress to fit the fairy-tale feel. The result is so whimsical – we can’t get enough of the off-the-shoulder tulle and lace embellished skirt. The whole scene was decorated with all sorts of greenery, from vines, eucalyptus, even artichokes.

Our Love Story

We met at Rollins College, where we were both theatre majors. We had known each other for a while but after a production meeting of Miss Firecracker and the discovery of our mutual love of Star Wars we just hit it off! From that day on, we were inseparable.

We had been dating for about three years when we ended up taking a month-long backpacking trip to Ireland and the Czech Republic. The first half of the trip we spent meeting Molly’s family in all corners of Ireland, ending that leg in Dublin.

One of the last days we spent in Dublin, we decided to have a picnic in Phoenix Park. It was easily the best weather we had the whole trip, and one of the only days we had just to ourselves. We we’re just laying down taking in the world, and Chris leaned over and popped the question… I, of course, said yes! It was perfect in so many ways!

We celebrated by stopping by an ice cream truck just outside the park. It was simple, and it couldn’t have been any better if I had dreamed it. It was us.

The Wedding Style

We had dreamed of this epic forest wedding. It was going to be an all-night party and as I told my wedding planner on day one, we wanted “A big Irish wedding, down by the river with food trucks and all the market lights.” To make that happen, there were three things that were really important to us.

The very first decision we made for our wedding was to have food trucks. This is something that Chris and I were very adamant on and we love how everyone embraced the idea.

The second was that we knew we would have a band. We spent a lot of time listening to different bands to find the one we felt fit us great. It was a splurge for sure but something we felt was very important.

Finally, the photography. If we were going to have this incredible party, we knew we wanted it captured in the prettiest way possible. When our wedding planner introduced us to Rudy and Marta, we were in love instantly. From their personalities to their incredible photos, it was exactly what we had been looking for.

“On the morning of the wedding, my mother gifted me charms that all had different meanings. My florist attached them to my bouquet and I carried them with me throughout the day. We also wanted to honor my heritage, so we did a knot tying during the ceremony.”

The Flowers

I’m not a big flower person. If we are being honest, I actually prefer plants to flowers – that’s what Chris typically buys me instead of flowers for special occasions. But knew that we would have flowers for the wedding in some capacity.

When we met Sarah with Flower Girl Designs, she embraced my vision and brought it to life. I wanted to incorporate A lot of greenery and especially eucalyptus into the design. It was something very important to me so she actually brought in as many different types as possible into the various pieces.

My bouquet was overflowing with greenery and beautiful white flowers. It was perfectly imperfect and that was what I loved about it. The greenery in the ceremony was the perfect accent for our creekside setting and was later moved to the reception to adorn various pieces under the tent.

The Details

I feel like our entire wedding was personal or handmade. Everywhere you looked, there were details that we made or incorporated into the wedding day. Starting with the signs that adorned the area that my bridesmaids (and fellow artist friends) created in the days leading up to the wedding and going all the way through to the palette wall that Chris built me to go behind our sweetheart table. Every detail had been thought out to match our style and vision.

Our wedding planner was wonderful with letting us explore options to DIY things that were important to us. Like when we found the perfect set of ceremony doors for our ceremony aisle and Chris strapped them to the top of the car and drove them 3 hours back home to create the perfect entrance for me.

I created all of the day-of stationary as well as the design for the wedding cake. Chris also built the arbor for the ceremony that we were married under as well as all of the boxes that the centerpieces were made in. Finally, we incorporated a few vintage pieces that have been passed down from our family into the design for the wedding day.

The Cake

Being a scenic artist, I knew that when it came to the cake I was going to have a hand in the design. When our wedding planner introduced us to Michelle from Bakers Cottage Cakes, I knew that she was the perfect person to bring my vision to life.

I had a hand drawn sketch what I envisioned the cake to look like and since Michelle is an artist herself, she accepted the challenge and brought my vision to life better than I could have imagined! The watercolor design was perfect to match the overall feel of our wedding day.
