For brides dreaming up a chic, palace wedding (in Sweden, perhaps?)

Raise of hands of brides who wouldn’t mind marrying your love in a Swedish palace? Oh, everyone?! This greenery filled, ultimately chic & stylish castle wedding is certainly one for the glamour books.

Jennifer and Alex found their dream palace venue conveniently in their hometown of Haninge (so jealous, my hometown only comes with a livestock state fair, ha!) outside of Stockholm. The ornate Swedish castle sported modern touches so fitting for the couple. Their star planner filled the venue with simple greenery, lucite chairs, white floral arrangements and the entire party took place around the Palm Springs-vibing pool area.

Jennifer’s dress was the final modern touch – a luxe and totally fresh, custom couture gown with sheer long sleeves, and hip modern lines. Taking advantage of this excuse for an ultra-glam moment, she hired one of the best makeup artists in Sweden, and what better day for it?!

Oh! And for those of you watching the Masters today (yes, wedding segway to golf!) our pro golfer groom Alex is ranked 15th. We’ll be cheering you both on this weekend!

Our Love Story

We met on New Year’s Eve, 2014. I spotted Alex as soon as I got through the door. I told my friend right away “That guy is mine!”. The funny part about this is that he kind of did the same thing with me. We split up after midnight and went separate ways. The day after we got in touch and hung out together. We have been a couple ever since.

Alex proposed to me on our balcony after a lovely dinner at a really fancy restaurant. I actually didn’t want to go but finally went anyway in sloppy jeans and dirty hair and was thinking “Whatever, this place is overrated anyway.”

Right before we went to dinner we found out that we had sealed the deal buying a summerhouse in Gotland. We were thrilled and shocked! Little did I know that I was going to be even more shocked five hours later with a ring on my finger. I was so shocked that I made Alex propose to me four more times! Sometimes I still ask him to pretend to do it again.

The Dress & Beauty

Talented Ida Lanto designed my wedding dress. I had a vision of how I wanted my dress and together we created the dress of my dreams. Ida is great to work with and she has a magic touch of every piece she does!

Fanny Lagerwall did my makeup, she is a well-known make-up artist here in Sweden and does personal make up for a lot of TV shows and official people. When I asked Fanny a year before our wedding she was already booked in September! I was really lucky though, she called me back a few days after and told me the customer never replied her and that she could do my makeup if I was still interested. Of course I was!

The Venue

Both my husband and I are from Haninge outside of Stockholm. We randomly asked a nearby castle if we could have our wedding celebrations there. Häringe castle is located in the area of Haninge just where we grew up so we were so excited when we found out that it was possible. We actually never asked any other venue after receiving a yes.

In the middle of the garden, there is a big pool. We decided to embrace that and the beautiful castle garden and decided to have the reception in a big tent that the pool lit up beautifully during the night.

We wanted the wedding to feel modern and relaxed but still romantic. I choose to have dark green for our colour palette and after seeing pictures of the ceremony location, rotunda everything just felt so right, the colour was perfect. The rotunda was covered with green ivy all over the walls. It looked like a dream and it was perfect for us and exactly how we had pictured our wedding to look like.

Favorite Moments

One favourite memory from the day was right after Alex and I said yes to each other at the aisle and our saxophonist Andreas played a song in front of us and all of our guests.

I felt so relaxed and happy and really seized the moment while looking at all our friends and family together for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Norén. It was truly magical!

The Photography & Videography

One of our requirements after the ceremony was to not be away from our guests to long. We gave our photographer only 20 min for our wedding pictures and she made a really good job given with very little time. I can really recommend Isabelle Hesselberg from 2 Brides. Her pictures are clean and modern with the perfect romantic touch!

We choose Patric Wilhemsson to capture the day on video. We had seen videos he had made and really liked the quality of his previous work. He was wonderful to work with and we felt so comfortable with him, he also did a little extra for us so he could give us the right video felling we asked for. We still have not received all the materials from him but what we have seen so far is amazing!

We also decided to record the speeches, which we are so happy we did! That is my number one tip for everyone getting married. Record the speeches! You want them!

During the time we were photographed we also had a magician for extra entertainment. He walked around during the cocktail hour and pulled the best magic tricks you could ever imagine. He left our guests questioning every trick he did and people were almost mad at him because he was too good. What he did was impossible to do. You need to book him!

The Details

I am so glad that we choose Häringe castle as our venue and when we booked them we got some time to talk with their recommended wedding planner, Louise Ojeda from Right Style. Louise made a really good first impression. She was interested and eager to get to know us as a couple in order to know if she could be ”the one” helping us and deliver what we wanted. And she was! I also got some great recommendations about her from familiar people in the business, so there was no doubt about hiring her to help us plan our dream wedding!

What I liked about Louise is that she is really organized and professional! She was always reminding me (in a non-stressful way!) on what to do next during the months leading up to the wedding and she always came with such great advise! She also has a lot of knowledge and experience that makes it easier to plan and book vendors. I felt she knew ”the good and bad ones” and she got us some really good deals that we could not have got without her – we are really glad for that!

To have a wedding planner like Louise was a great help and I could not have had the wedding of my dreams without her! If you want to have a wedding planner you need to book Louise. Alex and I are forever grateful that she was a part of our wedding. We could not have done it without her.

The Florals

Linnéa Bergqvist from The Wild Rose created all of our flowers. We found her on Instagram and thought she should be our florist. She has a very clean and beautiful way of arranging flowers and everything she does is just over the top and beautiful.

When I walked down the ”aisle” on the ceremony I was blown away by how she had put everything together so perfectly! The whole venue was decorated in a perfectly set theme. I think the dark green set the tone for the whole decor. We wanted it to look clean and let the flower arrangements speak for themselves – which it did!

The Reception

We started the dinner with a Swedish classic Skagenröra and after that, we enjoyed deer together with a potato gratin. My requirements were to have a lot of food since there was a lot of wine. As a dessert, we served Marängsviss and it came out as a family-style buffet with ice cream, merengue, warm chocolate sauce and fresh berries at the tables.

The dinner turned out great and I had so much pain in my cheeks from smiling the whole dinner!

After the dinner, we had our wedding cake and coffee inside the castle. It was great to move around a bit after the long dinner. We did not wanted to have a classic wedding cake so we decided to go for one of our favourites desserts, lemon meringue pie.

After the coffee and cake, we went back down to the tent again for our first dance. Evelina and her band was there singing “Addicted to You” by Avicii in slower version. After about two minutes the tempo and confetti cannons were shot all over us the waiters served shots and everybody started to dance like crazy!

The night ended the best way it could! With a burger in our hands on the dance floor at four in the morning!
