Have you been watching our Instagram Stories?! New York Bridal Fashion Week 2020 is in full swing & there is SO much pretty to be seen!

I've been hopping on and off the subway trains to bring to you our favorite bridal lines & up-and-coming designers so you can be the first to see the latest gowns for the coming season.

While we have plenty to share – from our top 10 gowns, favorite new designers, best beauty & accessory looks and round-ups for every style of bride – we couldn't resist starting by sharing some of our favorite new trends & details from the runway thus far.

1. Blouson Sleeves

Perhaps my own personal favorite new trend of the season is the utterly gorgeous ‘blouson sleeve'. Never heard of them? They're as pretty as they sound! Blousons are pillowy, fluttering sleeves that add an extra drama & romance.

In Emily Kotarski‘s latest collection, the fabric used is light as a feather (and removable!), which means they don't overpower the already stunning silhouette. Which brings me to the next trending detail…

2. Feathers!

Okay, we're not exactly reinventing the wheel here but feathers are back! I've already spotted a number of different pieces that feature feathers in some fantastic way that leads me to believe that whatever style of wedding dress you love, you'll be able to find a dream dress that has a little birdie embellishment. From Lee Petra Grebenau's jumpsuit to Sophie et Voila‘s stunning piece above, our hearts are aflutter.

3. Seashells

Believe it or not, it was my husband who noticed early this year on our honeymoon that puka shells were back. As a 90s kid, I was ecstatic! I started collecting every cool puka shell collar in Thailand and found cool snail shell rings in Greece, I can't get enough.

So, it was a revelation to spot real, seashell embellishments at Bridal Fashion Week used in such a unique fashion. Dana Harel sews tiny relics of the sea into a gorgeous sweetheart strapless gown.

4. Lavender

Lavender is the new blush! If you're an avid Bridal Musings reader or follower you know how much we love a colorful wedding dress (wait until you see Elizabeth Dye's new colorful collection below) and we've had the absolute pleasure in recent years indulging in the pink wedding dress trend on real weddings and styled shoots alike.

Brides who want to show off a fresher subtle color will be delighted to see how many lavender choices are hitting bridal salons & online stores post-Bridal Market. Who should you flock too for the latest trend? Galia Lahav‘s dramatic light purple ballgown absolutely wowed.

5. High Necks & Collars

For a few seasons, we've been vibing on the high-neck wedding dress trend – remember a certain Ms. Markle's Stella McCartney reception dress? Thankfully the trend isn't going away – it's getting a more dramatic update!

We're daring (double dog daring) high-fashion brides to wear one of these voluminous & detailed high-collared gowns to their city-chic wedding day. It's hard to pick just one favorite, but we're loving Lena Medoyeff‘s ode to Chanel with her high neck bow.

6. Mirrored Sparkle

First glitter, second sequins and now mirrors! If you're looking for the ultimate sparkle you'll be able to shine like a disco ball on your wedding dance floor thanks to the many 2020 gowns featuring hundreds of little mirrors – like this beauty from Inbal Dror.

7. Shoulder Bows

“In another life, I wore shoulder bows to our wedding” was my IG caption when waltzing around Bridal Fashion Week.

We saw so many beautiful bows across Bridal Market (a full ‘favorite bows of bridal week' post is coming soon!) but it's the dainty shoulder bows with long trailing ties that really grabbed our attention – particularly on Daughters of Simone‘s edgy relaxed fit corset gown.

8. Fluffy Gowns

Dresses by Elizabeth Dye

Layers of pleated tulle, flouncy skirts, feathers, ruffles on ruffles on ruffles – there were plenty of ways & styles that bridal designers used to achieve this spectacular volume that we'll have to just generalize as ‘fluffy gowns'.

If you're a full-skirted bride but you want something that's modern & totally ‘in' for 2020, we suggest one of these avant-garde fluffy skirts by Elizabeth Dye.

9. Pearls

Pearls are STILL having a moment, yes! Last year we saw gowns, capes & accessories that incorporated pearls in modern, stylish ways and this season the trend appeared even stronger – these aren't ‘your grandmother's pearls'.

Couture designer Lee Petra Grebenau capitalized on the trend with her “Fields of Pearls” collection that gave us piece after piece of glimmering pearls.

10. Bridal Jackets

We can't wait to share this season's best capes from the runway, but the new coverup we saw from the coolest designers around were the bridal jackets. Not just reserved for the tuxedoed bride, bridal jackets are a fabulous, trendy piece to add to your winter wedding look, civil ceremony or just a late-night addition as you hail a taxi to your after-party.

For a low-key look, we adored Savannah Miller‘s suit jacket featuring a soft lace train styled over one of her sexy, simple silk gowns. Looking to make a serious statement? You'll want to pick up this jacket and mini dress (featured below) from your nearest Alexandra Grecco stockist stat!
