Seriously gals, if there were ever a trend we hope lives on forever, it’s brides daring to be different with their wedding dress color choice. With so many colorful options season after season on bridal runways (a few of our favorite wedding dresses of 2020 were fluffy pink gowns!), it’s never been a better time to be a color-loving bride.

Bride Melanie embraced the pink wedding dress trend for her Texas garden wedding, and it honestly couldn’t have been more fitting. With 3D florals cascading down the gown, and a subtle blush hue that is both whimsical & sophisticated, she looked radiant amongst the roses and local flora.

Our Love Story

We met on December 25th, 2012 (Christmas Day) at the movies!

I (Melanie) was sitting by myself in the perfect middle seat waiting for the movie (Django) to start and Auggie (home for Christmas break) walked in with a group of his friends. There was only one seat open next to me and as soon as Auggie laid eyes on me, he stopped in his tracks and sat down, leaving all of his friends to fend for themselves. He eventually caught up with his friends, but not before asking me to join them. Although appreciative, I declined the invitation (they were sitting in the first row – booo!) but agreed to exchange numbers.

Auggie returned to Missouri to finish his last year of school and over the next year and a half, we remained close friends by talking every day, despite the long distance. Eventually, our friendship blossomed into romance and the rest, as they say, is history!

The Planning & Decor

Our wedding had several Spanish influences as we both love the culture and people. It was a nod to one of our honeymoon destinations! The ceremony and reception décor was romantic and beautiful. We had gold antique vases, lots of floral, and elegant touches throughout. We included a lot of light pinks, creams, and lavenders, with dainty greenery. We also had grays and golds for an antique feel. I’d describe it as a romantic themed spring garden wedding!

The Dress & Attire

My Marchesa gown had 3D flowers all over that fit well with our garden theme. I wanted a non-traditional but feminine look, so this dress was perfect! Auggie wore a charcoal gray suit from The Black Tux, with a black tie.

The Photography & Videography

I chose Deven as our photographer because I loved her light and airy style, and we just got along so well – right from the start! She was knowledgeable, organized, and friendly – three things I looked for in all of my vendors.

I chose our videographer because I loved their work and their story. They are a newly married couple and had recently started their videography business – I love supporting up-and-coming vendors!

The Reception

We had a DJ, and he played a mix of Spanish jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and hometown classics from Chicago where I’m from, and Washington DC where Auggie grew up. Our grand entrance was “Now That We’ve Found Love” by Heavy D. It was a great start to the evening! We ended the evening with a late-night snack – churros!

The Favors

We had Topo Chico which is a Texas staple, SANDERS brand chocolate candy (my new last name!), and a variety of chips and treats. We also included a tourist guide of Dallas since the majority of our guests are not from Dallas!

The Honeymoon

We country-hopped to Portugal, Morocco, and Spain and had the most amazing time! We started our trip in Lisbon, Portugal and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The food was phenomenal, the culture was incredible, and we met so many amazing people. We spent about five days in Lisbon before heading to Marrakech! Another incredible time. We ended our trip in Seville, Spain where we stayed in a countryside villa. I would highly recommend our honeymoon!
