Hello there, feeling suitably rested and relaxed after the weekend?

Did you hear my big news?! It's going to be a one post a day week while I'm in the US of A but I've got some of the loveliest, most creative and unique weddings for you to enjoy…

Starting with this charming, vintage, DIY wedding in a school house photographed by the awesome Paper Antler. Gillian and Spencer didn't spend a fortune on their wedding day ~ they didn't worry about themes, colour palettes or the tiniest of details. Their main priority was having a wedding that was just so ‘them'. You can't get more beautiful than that!

These are a few of my favourite things: Gillian's retro bridal look, their relaxed  ‘no bridal party just friends' approach, the unique hanging frame ceremony backdrop, the perfectly round white balloon and the sweet and playful chalkboard photos!

From Gillian, the bride: Our theme was vintage, mad-men, afternoon cocktail party – kind of a whole bunch of things in one – but mostly our theme was just “us.” My dress was a bridesmaid's dress in Ivory, my fashion designing friend made my hat, and my shoes were second-hand. I didn’t have a bridal party, but our close friends, who just wore their own clothes, hung out with us to get their pictures taken. Everyone likes photo shoots!

We had picnic food (sandwiches, salads, etc.) and in addition to the usual refreshments, we had my mom’s special rum punch! We were in the middle of a cornfield in 105 degree heat and humidity – and it was still awesome!

Come back tomorrow for Part 2, where Gillian shares her inspirational words of wedded wisdom and we get to see more amazing shots from their day!
