Hello friends,

How are you today?

I do hope you're settling into 2012 and enjoying that ‘fresh new start feeling'. I must confess that while everyone else seems to be talking about how healthy and productive they're being, it's taking me a while to get into the swing of things. However my fridge is stocked with healthy foods, Pump it Up is in the dvd player and I'm determined to tackle my to do list head on. Oh and to get to bed at a decent hour, for once!

Onto the pretty…

Throughout 2011 I was inspired by chalkboard. (Evidence in the form of creative and unique DIY projects here and here.) But there is also something poetic about the colour of chalkboard that really appeals to me ~ charcoal black, grey and even tinges of midnight blue teamed with white smudgey dustiness. I love that it never looks too perfect!

Oh how I want a chalkboard wall and one of Shanna Murray's illustrated decals to adorn it…

The groom in the top right is from a gorgeous Sydney wedding I featured last year where the bridal party and photographers went to town with the chalkboard wall to great (and fun) effect! Another gorgeous use of a chalkboard at a wedding is the charming, vintage schoolhouse wedding I featured below.

Where better to find a chalkboard than at a school?

If there are no chalkboards around for you to utilize on your big day, bring your own!

I adore these printable chalkboard details from I Do It Yourself ~ they have a range of chalkboard style products including fun photobooth props and table numbers, as well as the seating charts and chalkboard circles as seen below.

Those cute little chalkboard circles are so versatile ~ use them on cupcake toppers as place settings, attach to favour bags or even string them together to make a ‘just married' banner.

So I have two questions for you…

1. Is anyone else inspired by the colours of chalkboard or am I just being really sappy?

2. How is your 2012 going so far?
