Michelle of Pocketful of Dreams is a creative stylist, blogger and wedding planner based in the UK. I've admired her gorgeous mood boards and passion for ‘outside of the box' styling ever since we started our blogs around the same time last year. Its been so lovely getting to know her and watch her business go from strength to strength ever since.
It's such a pleasure to feature this unique wedding inspiration shoot, designed and styled by Pocketful of Dreams and photographed by the fabulous FO Photography.
Michelle explains:
The idea was to create an edgy and stylistic vibe, taking inspiration from interior design as well as the urban surroundings of the City.
I also wanted to demonstrate how beautiful the juxtaposition can be of a feminine and romantic bridal style against a cooler industrial backdrop. Mixed in with flashes of eclectic pieces and lots of contrasting textures to create a really rich and chic style that still has that cool factor about it.*
The resulting industridal chic, ‘Urban Eclectic' shoot is awash with exposed brickwork, metal, chains, cogs, test tubes and lightbulbs as well as a little sparkle and romance in the form of floaty dresses and flirty florals in delicate hues. And just wait until you see the metallic nuts and cogs hairpiece and eye make up!
So refreshingly different, don't you think?
Here's Michelle with all the creative details:
The floaty leaf-like San Patrick Calais gown was a real work of art, it looked magnificent on our model, flowing and flapping around as she twirled away under the snap of the photographers lens. This was paired with a bespoke, industrial-inspired headdress designed specifically for the shoot by renowned designer Rene Walrus.
Jo-Anne Bilham worked her magic with the make-up taking my brief to create something dramatic and edgy which would again work in contrast to the softer textured hair in loose plaits and soft waves.
The stationery suite was created by Kate Ruth Romey, taking cogs as the inspiration for the design, she hand drew the elements to look like little jewels. This design was the perfect blend between masculine and feminine.
Cakes By Beth created a hard and edgy pure white tiered cake, complete with silver leafing to two of the tiers to emulate that industrial vibe. The cake also included flower detailing to mirror the vanda orchids in the arrangements, complete with silver button centres.
The amazing floral creations were designed by award-winning florist Becky Hay at Blossom Flowers in Chorlton.
* Fun Fact: The shoot was also inspired, in part, by Funmi of FO Photographys background in mechanical engineering!
