Hands up who loves simple, chic wedding style and sunshine yellow?

I do, that's for sure.

And when Natalie Franke Photography is behind the lens you just know you're in for a whole lot of loveliness!

Scott and Kelly's bay side nuptials at The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Maryland, USA were classic yet modern with a refreshing colour palette and a focus on laughter and fun.

Especially when it came to their group shots!

From the beautiful bride, Kelly:

Theme

I wanted soft and classic colors. I wanted to look back and not cringe at the choices I made. Same would be said for my style/theme. The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club is so beautiful I didn’t feel I needed to add much. I am not a fancy person. I like simple, clean lines and timeless designs.

Wedding Dress

I LOVED MY GOWN! I was walking in downtown Charleston SC when I turned and saw the Zoe gown in the Lula Kate window. I knew at that moment that I wanted that dress one day. I wasn’t engaged yet but one of my best friends was with me and suggested I try it on…I didn’t…no jinxing this girl!

A couple months later I got engaged and the next weekend I found a local shop that carried the gown. I tried on several others after but nothing compared to how the Zoe made me feel. I felt timeless and beautiful!

Flowers

Hydrangea for the bridesmaid’s bouquets, English Garden Roses for my bouquet, Yellow Ranunculus and beach grass as décor in rustic wooden planters.

Photography & Videography

I don’t know where to start Natalie Franke is the BEST! She is amazing, I trusted her without a doubt and she really provided the best photography a bride could want! We hit it off from our first conversation. She is real and connected with me on style and vision which made working with her easy!

Same for Matt, our videographer from Buerhaus Design Videography he got every special moment and put it together in a way I hoped he would!

Bridesmaids in Yellow

I wanted to find something that they all liked and in a yellow I liked. It is hard to find a dress to fit everyone and make everyone happy. But, I think for the most part they liked the dress!

Décor & Details

I accented the bay setting by having my florist create beach grass designs. She suggested wooden planters in place of glass vases and it turned out perfect! The lantern centerpieces were my idea because I wasn’t interested in having a lot of flowers. I wanted to design in a little more modern way.

The programs and place cards were made by me and my mom. Thank God for my mom! She did so much to help me!

We opted to not do favors; we choose to donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Organization instead. My mother –in-law passed away the year before and we wanted to do something meaningful to us.

We did have a bunch of purple PAN-CAN.ORG bracelets for people to take and help raise awareness which ended up being a big hit!

The Wedding Music

AHH this part took me forever! I worked with my awesome DJ to pick songs perfect for Scott and I. We went very Dave Matthews/Frank Sinatra/Michael Buble.

The bridal party entered to I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz. I walked out to the instrumental version of Marry Me by Train. We danced to You and Me by Dave Matthews. My dad and I danced to the Hawaiian Version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.

We had a song picked for every special moment!

I asked Kelly what it was that made their wedding day unique and just so ‘them'. This was her reply:

From the venue, to the dress, to the lanterns and decorations this wedding was me through and through. My husband was easy to please; he had only one request…to be near water! I wouldn’t say our wedding was unique; it was just timeless and full of true love. We are casual people and fancy just doesn’t fit us, our wedding was elegant but in a simple chic “out by the bay” kind of way.

Don't you just love that?

It's a good reminder that your wedding dosen't have to be fancy or full of details like the weddings you see in wedding magazines, on Pinterest and on blogs. It should be about you and your partner and the things you love. Simple as that.

Thanks to Kelly and Scott for sharing their lovely wedding with us and to Natalie Franke Photography for these beautiful photos.
