Oh how I've been looking forward to featuring these romantic nuptials all the way from Bologna, Italy.

Alongside all the sophisticated, timeless, Italian style evident at Barbara and Davide's wedding was a laid back, rustic vibe – think lace wrapped jars of flowers and berries, luggage label escort cards and a country chic venue.

They also incorporated fun, colourful touches such as pom poms, pastel bunting, lego cufflinks and rhinestone initial converse!

Cinzia Bruschini Photography captured their day to perfection and just you wait until you see Barbara – what a beauty.

I've got seven words for you – powder pink off the shoulder wedding dress.

 From The Bride…

As we are both fond of romantic, shabby-chic vintage atmospheres, all our wedding was characterized by this style, from the invitation cards to the wedding staging, using a palette of pastel colours. We personally took care of details using old objects which we already had at home, such as an old Olivetti typewriter, a Coca Cola box and a Marelli fan.

The ceremony took place at the local town hall and was really moving as it was celebrated by an old schoolmate of ours with background music composed of the songs that had accompanied our love story.

 The Bride and Groom's Attire

My dress looked like a powder pink cloud, simple and romantic. David wore a classical black suit livened up by some accessories such as suspenders, cuff-links with Lego bricks, yellow socks and pocket handkerchief with little smiles.

My irregular – shaped wedding bouquet was composed of English roses, field scabious, astibe, dahlias, succulents, blackberry, sage and phlox.

 The Rustic Reception Venue

The location for the reception was chosen according to the style of our wedding, that is to say an old hamlet on a hilltop restored in a way to preserve the ancient flavour. The dinner took place in an old restored hayloft, with old timber beams showing and the guests were served local specialities and wines.

 Decor and Details

We made ourselves shabby-chic style things, such as wooden boxes or the cones for the rice made with wallpaper from the '70s.

The table centerpieces were very nice as they were given by a composition of some old books, aluminium little vases and old bottles with romantic pastel coloured garden flowers. At the end of the dinner, the books were given to the guests as a souvenir.

We used an old suitcase as a tableau de mariage and some drawers from the '50s to display the bonbonnières.

 The Wedding Photography

To make our special day everlasting, we chose Cinzia Bruschini, we immediately liked her professional and original style, her meticulous care for details and her attention in catching moments. We are really happy that she was the one who told the story of our day.

We will keep memory of our wedding in our heart forever, it was a day of feasting and love and we will never forget the warmth of relatives and friends.

Cinzia mentioned that a special credit should also go to the father of the bride for his patience, support and for a lot of handmade details. How lovely is that?!

Many thanks to Barbara and Davide for sharing your beautiful day! Thanks also to Cinzia Bruschini for these exquisite photos, it's been such a pleasure featuring them.

So are any of you lovelies getting married in Italy?
