The Debenhams beauty team have kindly popped by Bridal Musings today to share three gorgeous big day make up looks.

But be warned, these aren't your typical, safe, ‘barely there' bridal beauty affairs.

Why not break free of the ‘blushing bride' stereotype and opt for a smokey eye or a chic red pout? If it's good enough for Cara…

If there's one thing top design houses are truly brilliant at, it's creating ad campaigns capable of making us covet a product in a matter of seconds.

Picture it now: the embodiment of aspirational beauty – be it Scarlett, Keira, Marilyn, or some up-and-coming icon – is set against a backdrop expertly crafted to make us fall in love with the product being introduced. From the precise positioning of each prop down to the particular shade used for the model's dress, everything comes together to create an enchanting mist that seems to swirl out of the pages of magazines, down from the billboards in the streets, and across the rooms from our TVs to engulf us in its intoxicating allure.

Ok, we may be getting a tiny bit carried away, but the point is this: since ad campaigns are the outcome of who knows how many hours, days or weeks of meticulous planning, it makes perfect sense to utilise all this hard work and let these images of perfection guide our makeup choices for the big day.

Without further ado, let's create your designer “I do” look.

Inspiration: Katie Holmes for Bobbi Brown SS13

The Look

While smudgy eyes do feature, highlighter is really the key here. Skip powder and go for a glow with highlighter lotions applied to places your face would naturally catch the light: along cheekbones, under your eyebrows to lift your eyes, down the very centre of your nose to slim it down, and in the little dip in your cupids bow.

This is a lower maintenance look compared to a matt, powdered face, which is good news if your face tends to be on the shiner side!

Inspiration: Emma Watson for Lancôme in Love SS13

The Look

This look is everything that's right about bright makeup. From the eyes – edged by gorgeous jade eyeliner – to the sweetly pinkened lips with their hint of shimmer. And don't get us started on the blusher. Emma's cheeks have been coloured in just the right shade and with exactly the right balance of restraint and vigour that creates the kind of cheekbones most of us can only dream of.

However, if you start straight away, perhaps practice – and a few choice products – can make perfect, and this ideal wedding-day look can be yours.

Inspiration: Cara Delevingne for YSL Beauté

The look

It may not be a traditionally bridal look, but Cara's makeup in this campaign is too good to dismiss. While the black mini dress and silken ribbon create a chic and sophisticated look in the ad, we think the almost-natural pink lips are beautifully accentuated by an eye-opening flick of liquid liner on the upper eyelids, and lashings of YSL Babydoll mascara, of course. This could really work for a bride with edgier tastes.

Also, who could resist trying to replicate Cara's statement brows with a strict no-plucking rule before their big day?!

And because we love films around these parts, here's the achingly cool campaign video for YSL Baby Doll.

Would you dare to rock one of these high impact make up looks on your big day?!
