The Venue & Vendors

As soon as we walked into Ham Polo Club we knew it would be the perfect venue for us – elegant and classy yet with a really relaxed and informal feel. We also tried to use local suppliers where we could and found diamonds in Fairynuff FlowersTeddington Cheese and the amazing caricaturist David Lewis.

My mum and sister were invaluable in the planning process and were always on hand to give advice and accompany me to appointments and fittings.

 Décor & Details

The main décor in the venue was Steph of Fairynuff Flower‘s gorgeous flowers – the marquee entrance was decorated with a ladder, wooden crates and a watering can all filled with stunning flowers. We hung white paper poms in the bar area and hanging glass tea light holders from the grapevine in the main marquee.

I made the seating plan based on a Paris map with districts for table names. Mathew's mum handmade our favours – lavender hearts with our initials and wedding date printed on for ladies and material bags filled with fudge for men. I collected and framed photos of various family members from different eras on their wedding days and displayed these with the guestbook and quote from Audrey Hepburn.

 The Refreshments

We had Kir Royales, Prosecco, and ice buckets filled with Peroni (Mat's request!) as our reception drinks along with canapes. We then had a formal sit-down meal followed by coffee and macarons overlooking the polo pitch. In the evening we enjoyed a spread of  cheese ( from the wedding cake) and a selection of charcuterie.

 Advice For Other Couples

Try  to relax and and enjoy every aspect of the wedding including the planning, prep and build-up.  I know its easier said than done but as soon as you start stressing over micro-managing minor details it becomes a pain! Don't lose sight of what your day should be about: you, your partner and the special people in your life.

I got lots of inspiration and ideas for our wedding from the ‘Style Me Pretty' and ‘Rock My Wedding' blogs. I also bought lots of bits from Not On The High Street.

Congratulations Lorna and Mat!

Aren't the flowers insanely gorgeous? And how fab is that map of Paris table plan?!
