Today’s real wedding is all kinds of pretty!

A charming historial mansion in Tulsa, Oklahoma, plays host to Brett and Beth’s beautiful rustic wedding, captured in all its country elegance by (the fab) Kristine and Scott from Blue Elephant Photography.

A beautiful old Southern home, with shabby chic decor and whimsical hues, was the perfect backdrop for Beth’s DIY decor, an intimate outdoor ceremony, and one of the most impressive dessert tables we’ve ever seen!

The bride was glorious in a lace mermaid gown, and the groom, dashing, in a linen vest suit  and cowboy boots.

Blush-hued bridesmaid dresses, added real romance to the palette.  And as for the blooms? A pale pink dream, in floral form!

The Flowers

The centerpieces included hydrangeas and a ton of baby’s breath.

The boutonnieres for the men included a small bundle of baby’s breath wrapped with a piece of burlap and lace (simple but perfect!).

The bouquets included hydrangeas, baby’s breath, blush pink roses, pink peonies, and dusty miller. My bouquet included the same flowers on a larger scale and it also encompassed a small beaded elephant and owl in remembrance of my two grandmothers that had passed away a few years earlier.

It was a way for them to be with me that day.

The Dresses

I wore a floor length, mermaid style lace and beaded gown by Maggie Soterro. I wanted my gown to elegant but still sexy. That is why I chose one with lace and beading throughout.  I felt like the mermaid style accented all of the features I love about myself and hid all of the ones I don’t like so much!

My bridesmaids wore floor length chiffon bridesmaid dresses (all different styles) made by Jim Hjelm. I wanted them to be comfy and not too hot (that is why I chose chiffon) however I felt like the floor length still gave that classy look that mirrored the theme and décor.

The Theme

The theme for the wedding was shabby chic utilizing pale shades of turquoise, yellow, blush pink, rose pink, and mint green.

I knew I wanted the wedding to reflect our rustic/country chic side but still be feminine and “summery.” These colors worked perfectly together to give us that feel!

The Decor

All of the décor was either purchased at an antique/thrift store or was made by the bride and family, or came from the bride’s house. (Talk about a personal touch!)

Old kettles, bottles, containers and jars, books, suitcases, candle holders, etc. were randomly grouped together and displayed on all of the guest tables as well as specialty tables.

It was so much fun to just throw together a few odds and ends and put them on a table and immediately make it beautiful. There was no order or structure to what décor went on which table.

The Music

While guests were being seated, several 90s country love songs played throughout the courtyard.

The bridesmaids walked out to Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am.”

The bride walked to Chris Ledoux’s “Look at You Girl.”

After the ceremony, the bride and groom walked to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” This was the fun part!

The first dance was “Next to Heaven” by Aaron Watson, the father-daughter dance was Tim McGraw “My Little Girl.” And, the mother son dance was Garth Brooks “It’s Your Song.”

The remainder of the reception was filled with 90s country, line dances, hip hop, and 80s rock music!

The Ceremony

We wrote our own vows and the preacher was sure to make the ceremony very conversational with the guests.

We wanted the readings to connect with our guests and allow them to really understand how we viewed our marriage.

The vows were completely heart felt and the reading of them was my favorite part of the wedding.

The Photography

We loved the style of Blue Elephant Photography’s pictures. They were soft yet so refined and perfect. They really captured the candid moments that you won’t ever get back except through pictures.

Once I met Scott and Kristine, I knew they would be perfect for our wedding!

Advice for Other Couples

I used a wedding website made by MOD Wedding. They had the cutest designs that went along with our “theme.”

The Knot was a very useful tool in staying on budget and making sure every item on the checklist was marked off before the big day.

My biggest tip is what I am sure most couple’s is, ENJOY THE DAY!

Don’t let the day get away from you because it will in a heartbeat. I was sure to soak it all in.

Sometimes throughout the day preparing, I would go sit by myself in a corner and just watch all of my loved ones run around helping me.  It was a  way for me to feel blessed and reflect on the day and get exciting for that night!

The Refreshments

We served a buffet style BBQ to the guests immediately following the ceremony before beginning the reception.

The guests had a choice between two meats, potato salad, beans, and bread. Tea and water was served with the meal, however guests had the option between soda water, strawberry daiquiris, margaritas, red and white wine, as well as two different types of beer.

We had three wedding cakes (all different sizes). One was chocolate with raspberry filling, white with strawberry cream cheese filling, and pineapple.

The groom’s pies consisted of strawberry pie, lemon pie, and chocolate pie.

Favourite Things

The decorations made the wedding “so me.” A lot of the shabby chic décor came from my own house!

The entire day was so relaxed which allowed me to not have a worry in the world preparing. It was hard for me to ask for help, but all of my family and friends, and even acquaintances jumped in and made the day so perfect.

My absolute favorite part of the day was when the French doors opened at the top of the balcony stairs, and I saw my soon to be husband for the first time that day. It made that moment even more special. The music was perfect and allowed both of us to get caught up in what was happening.

So gorgeous!

I just adore that venue, and love the sound of a 90s country music party playlist – that sounds like a lot of fun!

Thanks so much to Brett and Beth for sharing their wonderful Tulsa wedding day with us.
