Elizabeth here, stopping by to fill you in on all the behind the scenes gossip and goings on from Barcelona Bridal Week 2015 – it was a whirlwind of tulle, lace and Spanish style!
I'm doing this post in two parts – first a look backstage and at some of the stand out catwalk moments using professional photos (because omg are they pretty!) The second post is a more personal take on my time in Barcelona featuring various musings, iPhone pics and videos.
I just couldn't possibly fit everything I wanted to say and show you into one post!
This was a special trip for me because it introduced me to a whole host of talented Spanish wedding dress designers that I hadn't discovered yet (don't worry, I'll introduce you too!) as well as giving me the opportunity to see some of my favourite bridal designer's gowns up close.
I mean, just look at the detail on these Yolan Cris beauties below!

Special mentions must go to Pronovias, Rosa Clara, Yolan Cris and Jesus Peiro – their collections were even lovelier than I'd imagined! While new-to-me designers Marco & Maria, and their delicate, ethereal designs have most definitely stolen my heart.

Stand Out Shows & Catwalk Moments
There were a few stand out shows and memorable catwalk moments that deserve a mention.
Miquel Suay sent models down the catwalk in pairs, holding hands, representing love in it's many and varied forms in a poignant celebration of marriage equality that received rapturous applause throughout the auditorium. It was such a beautiful gesture and moment.

Isabel Zapardiez had her models share the catwalk with a live band (who rocked!). I adored her fashion forward designs and the fact that she created stylish rain macs and ponchos for winter brides (no easy feat!).
While Ana Torres had everyone up and dancing to cuban beats thanks to a very energetic singer with rainbow coloured dreadlocks who danced around the models as they walked the catwalk.

I was also pleased to see a unique collection of sari inspired wedding attire from Sabrina Saree. What a great idea for Indian brides who are looking for a white alternative to a traditional red sari or for brides who want to embrace this effortlessly elegant, fusion bridal style.
Though the ‘feathered tea cosy' esque headwear is not for the faint hearted!

Barcelona Bridal Week isn't all about brides! Fuentecapala showcased a stylish menswear collection featuring Spanish style waistcoats, kilts and even a cape.

The most theatrical catwalk show award went to the husband and wife designer duo behind Jordi Dalmau, and their daughter, who acted out a dramatic encounter with fantastical beings, including a dragon! (The make-up and hair was crazy but absolutely amazing.)
The gowns were just as theatrical featuring full bodied ballgown skirts which can be ripped off ‘Abba' style to reveal shorter skirts and dresses beneath, often in colourful silk and tulle.

New York based bridal design house Houghton layered dozens of Persian rugs across the catwalk to add to the ‘gyspy' vibe of their latest collection, which was a bohemian dream filled with easy breezy shapes, floaty florals and 70s inspired elements.
Barcelona Bridal Week 25th Anniversary Celebrations
Barcelona Bridal Week celebrated it's 25th year with a very special catwalk featuring 24 dresses and 1 suit from 25 different designers who had showcased their designs over the years. The show took place at a place at the Palau Reial de Pedralbes, a stunning palace surrounded by an antique garden.

Pronovias Catwalk At The Catalan National Art Museum
Leading Spanish bridal design house, Pronovias, arranged a magical catwalk spectacular at one of the most iconic buildings in Barcelona, Catalan National Art Museum, which sits on a hilltop overlooking the city. The show was opened and closed by supermodel Irina Shayk, who looked absolutely breathtaking!
Check out the backstage snaps below to appreciate just how long Irina's finale train was. Wow!
