It's perhaps the most requested, pinned, and timeless wedding hairstyle. It doesn't really have one single name. And there are endless ways to do it.

Chances are if you're having an upstyle for your wedding, you've considered some variation on the low bun.

It could be a chignon, a braided upstyle, a gathered Gibson roll or an updo to the side – but whatever way you want to style it, we just love the sexy, chic, and effortlessly classic look of a style that just sits pretty on the nape of your neck.

While more recent styles tend to be a little messy and undone, the low bun look can also be swept up for an elegant, regal look, or styled at the back into a neater, or more stylised ‘do.

Because they sit low, and often involve soft strands framing your face, these styles aren't as severe as a high updo or ballerina bun, but give a more polished, occasional look than a hair-down style.

Romantic, soft, and always stylish, they're great for showing off the neckline of your dress, some gorgeous earrings or a beautiful neckpiece.

Many stylists creating a low bun will backcomb your hair for added volume and perhaps add waves for texture.

For a messier, undone look, they'll pin up your tresses section by section, though of course, you can also ask for something a little sleeker, or add braids, twists, rolls, flowers and hair accessories to give the look more interest and detail.
