As you may know, we're rather partial to mixing up our inspiration here at Bridal Musings, so when we saw a shoot that blended Japanese aesthetics with cool London wedding vendors (and gorgeous Spanish wedding dresses!), we knew it was going to be good.

Wabi-sabi is a term to describe a Japanese philosophy, and because it's fixed in nature, minimalism and beauty, it's fittingly become something of a micro trend in weddings too.

And today's shoot, by Siobhan H Photography, with styling by Always Andri, (the talented lady behind our expert planning series!) has lots of ideas for how to work a little wabi-sabi onto your own big day.

With modern dresses (watch out for the new Otaduy collection on the blog in a couple of weeks!), wild greenery, beautiful tablescaping, a luxe London setting, and plenty of steal-worthy details, there's a lot of big ideas going on in this shoot.

But to share the big idea that kicked it all off, we'll leave you in the hands of the lovely Siobhan H

From the Photographer

Weddings can often be ostentatious affairs, with couples getting carried away with what they ‘should' or ‘shouldn't' have, so it is very easy to lose sight of who you are, and the true meaning of marriage and all it entails.

I feel deeply connected to the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, appreciating the emerging and the dying as well as the perfect now, and the idea of finding beauty in that ‘imperfection'. I love how it brings us closer to nature and ultimately, to ourselves.

With the help of Andri Benson (from Always Andri), we put together a wedding inspiration dedicated to this aesthetic and brought all of the ideas together. The shoot took place at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park, one of the few London wedding venues surrounded by natural beauty, and it encapsulated the whole idea.

I wanted to shoot it in a clean, simple style as I am also a minimalist at heart, and I think the two aesthetics work really well together. I love the work of designers like Andre Fu, who bring these elements together so beautifully in their work, and I thought it would be interesting to create some wedding inspiration too.

Isn't it pretty? I think these ideas would work really well for a winter or spring wedding, but could also be pretty cool for an elopement, don't you think?

Thanks so much to Siobhan H PhotographyAlways Andri and the rest of the stellar team behind this shoot for sharing it with us.
