From architecture to interiors and fashion trends to food crazes, even nature, textiles, and colours, wedding planners, florists, bakers and designers look at everything as a potential idea for centrepieces, wedding cakes, dresses or bouquets.
And you can too.

Refresh Your Search for Wedding Inspiration
It’s September, which means a time of new beginnings – school is back in session, summer is officially over, and fall is just around the corner.
Given this, I thought I would share my thoughts for keeping your search for wedding inspiration fresh and invigorating.

In today’s world of Pinterest, it can sometimes feel like you’ve seen the same bouquet/dress/favor photo 50 times in a row. It’s frustrating, especially if you’re trying to expand your conception of what your wedding will look and feel like.
Even I as a florist have experienced this – looking around for inspiration for my wedding couples, and running into the same few images over and over. After a while, they can all start to look the same.

So, how do you keep your search for inspiration fresh and, frankly, inspiring?
Here are some tips that I always keep in mind whenever I’ve run into an inspiration-rut.
1. Look Around You

Remember, you already know what you like – just take a look at your home, your closet, your garden, even! What styles are coming across here? Are there recurring color themes?
Now walk out into your neighborhood. What do you love as you walk down the street? What’s catching your eye? Maybe it’s a certain store’s window display or the grand entrance of an apartment building.
Whatever it is that you feel yourself called toward, this is a great way to remind yourself of your core design preferences. And the act of walking alone will help to reset your imaginative energies!
2. Look to Those you Admire

I feel like I always say this, but it’s so true! Take a moment to think about those people whose style you admire.
Start following them on Instagram if you don’t already. Check back to their feeds regularly for inspiration.
Better yet, take a moment to think about those whose opinion you value. Talk to your sister, mother, best friend, aunt, whoever that person is in your life. See if they have some really creative ideas they can share and talk through with you.
(Maybe even take a peek at a friend’s wedding pics – what inspiration is there that you can take away?)
3. Diversify

If you haven’t already caught on to this theme, inspiration is everywhere! Remember not only to pin wedding-specific photos; remember to pin that fabulous dress that Audrey Hepburn wore once upon a time.
Instead of just pinning wedding bouquets, maybe pin a few photos of loose flowers that you love.
Diversify your search terms; you’ll be surprised what other great content you’ll find. Taken as a whole, your wedding Pinterest board will become a fabulous collage of all those things that move and inspire you, all those things which speak to some essential truth about how you’d like your wedding to look and feel.
