Romantic Winery Wedding with Gorgeous Florals and Chic Style

We’ve got a really beautiful real wedding to share today, with so many lovely details, we can’t quite believe it was planned in six months.

Jeremy and Aarika got married at Fontaine Estates Winery, with a gorgeous outdoor ceremony (with calligraphy details you’re going to love) and a fun reception. Their day was candidly captured by Misty C. Photography

Aarika was a stunning bride in her lace keyhole back wedding dress, joined by her bridesmaids in navy mix and match dresses and Jeremy and his gents in grey suits.

But what’s perhaps the nicest detail about this wedding, is how it all came together. From Jeremy and Aarika’s communication on the finances, to their family and friends who lent their skills and talents to the DIYs, design and catering, to the generous guests who gifted details for the wedding, from the stunning florals to the beautiful baked goods – this wonderful day was a community effort.

And often, those are the best weddings to attend, don’t you think?

Our Wedding

We met while we were both camp counselors at a church camp. We had mutual friends but never really met. Although we were total opposites (he is very shy, and I very outgoing) we started to hang out when we good and really hit it off!

One of our favorite things to do is hike, so that’s where he proposed after three years of dating. The proposal was actually ironic because I had actually gotten mad at him about 10 minutes prior to the proposal because he hadn’t proposed yet. Looking back on it I feel silly for worrying so much.

Our wedding theme was meant to be simple but pretty. We wanted a theme that would fit the location as well as our personalities, so we decided no set theme at all was actually best. We kept our color palette neutral with pops of navy, berry and champagne, but none of the colors dominated in any way.

Since we are outdoorsy people, I wanted to use as much greenery as we could, so we went with a lot of silver dollar eucalyptus and some magnolia leaves here are there to warm it up a bit.

Overall, I guess our main prerogative was to try to not use anything too trendy so that in years to come we won’t look at our pictures and say “what were we thinking”?! I like to think we succeeded since we kept most of our decoration pretty simple.

The Decor & Details

Fontaine Estates was actually the only venue we looked at, but I knew it was perfect. The location and view couldn’t be beat, and the inside of the venue was cozy and had a lot of personality. The venue had so much character to it and beauty around it that we didn’t even need elaborate decoration, because the beauty was already there.

Also, I loved the bridal room. It was so elegant and vintage, but tons of natural light…what more could you want?

For our ceremony we had a candle-lighting ceremony. Growing up in the church, we had my pastor marry us because we have known him our whole life and it meant a lot to us to have him there that day. We also had scripture from Corinthians 13 line the isles because what better way to begin a life of love, than to walk down an iasle explaining love, right?

A lot of things were DIY. All the ceremony decoration was DIY (aside from the florals), and so were the bridesmaid’s hairpieces and the wedding programs. The venue came with a lot of items available for rent which we used a lot of. All the candles, lanterns and linens we rented from the venue, which saved us a lot of money!

For the guest sign in we used a large appointment calendar from Rifle Paper Co. to have guests write in their birthdays and anniversaries. We figured this was much more functional for future use than just a sign-in guest book.

Favourite Moments & Advice

Just the overall mood of the wedding was very us and reflective of our personalities.

One of my favorite moments was walking back down the aisle as husband and wife to the Rocky theme song. Another one of my favorite parts was dancing the night away. Unfortunately Jeremy doesn’t dance, but that’s why I have my girls!

Since we only had a six month engagement, I had an app that was a timeline of what we had to do and when we had to do it which just stressed me out more, so my bridesmaids helped me make a list of what needed to be done and I would just check it off as I went without a piece of technology giving me a guilt trip every day for everything I hadn’t done.

I know this is a big no-no but we actually didn’t have a set-budget for things. We were very blessed with the help that we received, but without the gifting our wedding would have looked much different. Since we didn’t live together or share a bank account yet, knowing how to budget your own wedding responsibilities and communicating them goes a long ways.

We chose Misty as our photographer because I knew for a fact she would capture our day perfectly no matter what. She also made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera, and I also have yet to see a bad picture she has taken. Another reason we chose her is because our personalities fit together well and she really took time to get to know us and it showed through the pictures.
