10 Australian Wedding Dress Designers We Love (And You Will Too)

Made With Love 3

Back in the day, the US and Europe were the places to go for wedding day style.

From the big wedding dress brands in New York, or the couture bridal salons in Paris, to the top fashion houses in Barcelona and London, the two regions were kind of the only bastions of beautiful gowns and contemporary style.

Over recent years, Israel stepped in, becoming a pocket of exciting luxury designers and a leader of bridal trends (hello sheer panels and backless gowns!).

But now, there’s a new kid on the bridal block. Australia.

Australia has had a few big bridal names for a while, but recently more and more cool niche designers have been cropping up and producing gorgeous gowns for modern brides.

So, as we were prepping for an event we’re heading to in London this weekend (The Aussie Bridal Salon, UK brides on the dress hunt, you HAVE to check this out! Cathleen Jia, nevenka and Bo & Luca will all be there.), we thought we’d take this opportunity to share some of our fave Aussie designers with you guys.

We’ve rounded up ten (but we could easily have had 20!) of the most coveted dress brands in Australia, some old timers and new names that will have you booking a flight to Melbourne to go dress shopping!

(FYI, Before you start packing your suitcase, you can shop most of these designers internationally too!)

2. Grace Loves Lace

We’ve been fans of these guys for a long time! Grace Loves Lace is one of those rare wedding dress brands that’s ‘Pinterest famous’ but whose gowns look just as gorgeous on real brides, as they do on the models. There’s good reason these dresses are among the most pinned on the planet.

The go-to for cool, boho brides, recent Grace Loves Lace collections have made a move to a more sophisticated twist on their free-spirited aesthetic.

Designed and handmade in Australia, using European lace and silks, these dresses are for stylish, eclectic brides who still want to rock something romantic (and maybe even a bit sexy) on their big day.

3. nevenka

nevenka is a really cool and innovative ‘unbridal’ bridal brand. Their signature style is all about making a statement, with big ruffles, fun details and beautiful lace and broderie anglaise textures.

With roots in Eastern Europe, but based in Melbourne, this collection has a worldly feel, with eclectic influences, bold design and a really touching story behind the brand.

While these are wedding dresses for brides who want something truly unique and untraditional, they’ve still got a lot of soul, beauty and romance to them.

Georgia Young is a gorgeous example of contemporary couture bridal fashion.

5. Silvana Tedesco

We discovered Silvana Tedesco just a few months ago, and have been smitten with her stylish, seductive, innovative wedding dresses ever since.

Based in Melbourne, her designs are perfect for fashion forward brides who want to adapt their every day style into their wedding day look.

6. Anna Campbell

Anna Campbell may have only launched her Melbourne fashion house seven years ago, but she’s already a stalwart of Australian bridal design.

9. Pallas Couture

Pallas Couture is a mother-daughter bridal fashion house in Sydney, and one of the most internationally renowned Australian bridal brands.

Distinctly different from the relaxed, bohemian vibe of many Australian designers, Pallas Couture has more of a luxurious aesthetic, with figure-hugging silhouettes, sexy designs, and ornate embellishment.

Definitely one for brides who want drama, glamour, and a touch of opulence from their wedding dress.
