I never outgrew my “horse girl” stage. I truly wish I could wear my English riding pants (us horsey girls were wearing high-waisted trousers long before it was hip!) in my daily wardrobe and every time I see a wedding with horses I melt. I suppose it’s high time we feature some real Argentinean gaucho inspiration, no?

The polo fields and bed and breakfast of Puesto Viejo Estancia set the scene for this luxurious, boho bridal shoot. With flat fields of green, well-manicured lawns and an old-world estate, Burlap & Bordeaux had a blank canvas to design this bohemian dream. Popping blooms of pale pink, and tangerine, the crew went more “luxe” than “rustic” for this countryside scene.

Perhaps the best display of this upscale design is in our bride and groom’s attire. Wearing a set of different boho gowns and sparkling headpieces, the bride gives off a Gatsby vibe, rather perfect for this luxe polo estate. Saving the gaucho look for our groom, we love the idea of a classic, Argentinean hat to pair with more modern menswear duds.

From Burlap & Bordeaux

The inspiration was a traditional wedding in a polo field setting. We really wanted to accentuate the venue and the ties to the culture and architecture from Argentina.

Puesto Viejo is a beautiful bed & breakfast, and polo club in the middle of the Argentine countryside. At any given time you can see professional polo players wandering about the property or practicing on the field. The design of the clubhouse is modern yet traditional to the Argentine design with the beautiful tall, carved, wood doors. I wanted to really capture all this in the shoot.

We stayed at the bed & breakfast during the shoot, it was a very surreal experience and absolutely breathtaking. The rooms were very beautifully decorated and every morning we’d wake up to the sounds of wild birds outside our rooms. As we’d walk to the dining room, we were greeted by amazing staff who would serve three incredible meals a day plus afternoon tea with a private on-site chef. These meals were absolutely amazing, so we know that the food for weddings would be top notch for sure!

The Details

We worked with an incredible team of vendors. The venue provided tables, catering, cake, venue space, polo player and horse and hotel accommodations. We worked with Akende Eventos to provide the furniture, ceremony arch, and decor.

We had our own makeup artist and photographer brought in from the states. I brought over the linens custom made from Dreams America Linens; a cream velvet linen with a sheer tulle overlay for sweetheart table adorned with hand-sewn crystals and pearls.

Our invitation suite was custom made by Lauren of Lauren Lauren Lauren and calligraphy by Teagan. We used three custom-made dresses and jewelry from Catalina who was onsite during the shoot to style the models. Her dress designs are absolutely breathtaking!

Favorite Moments

It was the middle of winter for our shoot (July, hahaha) so it was a bit cold and raining. As we set up, it absolutely poured! Everyone kept asking, what are we going to do? I just said, “the rain will pass”, as thunder and lightning hit and a deluge of rain poured even harder. We laughed and nervously kept working.

We were set to shoot outside at 3 pm, and as luck would be on our side, exactly at 3 pm, the sun popped out of the clouds and we were able to start shooting. Every detail of this shoot breathed Argentina. We wanted to stay true to the culture and it was absolutely hard to miss. I loved that we were able to showcase the countryside and also have a polo horse!

The Venue

It was an absolute dream to work in Argentina. The venue is just about thirty minutes outside of the city in Buenos Aires, in the countryside called Cañuelas. To think about doing a destination wedding here would be such an incredible experience.

This venue is not only beautiful, but gives such a unique experience. Bride & grooms are given a two-night stay at the hotel on site which includes meals from the chef. So they will get to experience what I did. The staff speaks both English and Spanish which is very helpful and can help arrange travel from airport to the hotel.
