Beach babe that I am, there’s something even more enchanting about Bali’s rice paddies. Seas of green, palms waving in tropical winds, tranquil temples and quiet moments away from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s beach crowd. All the way from Ubud, this wedding inspiration encapsulates that authentic Balinese dream photographed by Nej Photo.

Say hello to the dreamiest intimate ceremony space; what looks like a tiny wooden raft, floating in a sea of green, the small set-up features whimsical white parasols, lucite floral stands and gold details planned by Chere Weddings. Merging old Bali with modern luxury, the carefully curated bits of decor match the lavish bridal look, particularly one sparkling bridal tiara.

We head from the natural ceremony space to a traditional and ornate tea ceremony, filled with tropical flora and classic red tapestries then followed by a zen garden picnic fitting for a nature-rich scene. Changing her look to fit this more casual space, we see how a modern romantic gown with lace cape can fit perfectly into a culture-rich Balinese wedding-day.

We’ve seen many weddings in Bali but none that closely resemble the true authentic Balinese experience. Hence when we found out about The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah, we were thrilled to see how its buildings and architecture is maintained with much respect for the indigenous culture of Bali.

The fact that the venue is situated at Ubud, the quieter and “zen” part of Bali, further adds to the need for us to do a shoot that brings out the elements that make a wedding Balinese. With that, we conceptualized a shoot which we hope brings across the idea of a quiet celebration of love away from the hustle and bustle of touristy Bali.

We let nature take centre stage in this shoot because there is always a form of effortless grace to the outcome of a shoot when we let mother nature lend us her beauty. For the ceremony we decided to let the grandeur of the rice paddies be the focus. An intimate ceremony was set up among the greenery that surrounds us from all corners. For the dining space, we went with a picnic set up for a more down to earth dining experience.

Stationery used here were all handmade by us. We used plenty of Batik elements to style a look that bring across the Balinese culture. The picnic table faces the breath-taking view of the rice paddies as well!

Adding a few oriental elements to this shoot, we had a traditional tea ceremony setup (common to many Asian Chinese weddings) where the flowers used to decorate the area were put together by The Chedi Club staff. Some of the flowers used were also grown at The Chedi Club itself.
