Anyone here longing for sunny beach weather? Perhaps daydreaming of your own tiny private island off the coast of Brazil? Maybe dressed in a bohemian frock for an endless night of dancing? You know where I’m going with this, welcome to the epic Brazilian wedding of Lorena and Alisson.

I’ve got a thing for dramatic entrances (have you read my bio? “loves entrance by horse or camel”) and today’s real wedding one-ups any wild wedding entrance I’ve imagined in the past. Guests to Lorena and Alisson’s wedding were taken by boat (quite a magnificent boat, actually) to a tiny island off the coast of Rio de Janeiro to wait for their stunning bride.

Then, Lorena hops in her own little ship to sail the seas to her beau. The arrival of Lorena, dressed in a bohemian Flayza Vieira Couture gown is just about one of the most fabulous, cinematic (thanks to photographers Val + Wander) entrance we could ever hope for that we’re just going to let you get on with the photos. Our Love Story

We met at a ballad club, at a very difficult time in my life (my father was diagnosed with cancer). I went out with my friends, after much insistence of them, to laugh a little and it was there. As soon as he saw me he was already approaching. We fall in love that very day.

In two years we got married. He asked me to marry him in the hospital (where my father was diagnosed with lung cancer). The next day my father got much worse, he went to the ICU and I never spoke to him again (he needed to be sedated and intubated). The last day I spoke to my father was on the day of the wedding, and he said yes.

The Wedding Vibes

We decided everything together, except our clothing, we left this surprise to us. I think it is important for the couple to participate in everything so that the wedding is really experienced by two and represents the couple.

We wanted a face-to-face ceremony, no classic ritual, with the wedding on the beach. We wanted an exciting and happy marriage, a real marriage that spoke our truth, which is very much ours. There was no exuberance or grandeur, but it was no less beautiful for that. We did what we wanted – it was a dream.

Favorite Moments

The moment when Alisson sat at the piano and played a song he made for me, I almost died!

Another moment was when Alisson appeared at the party recording the audio of the day he asked me to marry him. I knew he had recorded it, but I did not know what was in the audio since he asked me to leave the hospital room and talked a long time with my father. Remembering it was my father’s last day of lucidity was a thing of God.

Advice for Other Couples

Enjoy every second of the wedding planning, it is also part of this special time. Hire professionals that you identify and empathize with. Know the work takes effort for all professionals, and as they give their best to you, trust them, they’ve had many wedding before yours. Organize with time and with calmness, the time passes very quickly.

Most importantly, enjoy the wedding: dance a lot, laugh a lot, make it unforgettable.
