Oh, do we have a treat today for the unconventional bride!

Prior to being a wedding planner my life in the wedding industry began as a bridal consultant; I’m now a bride-to-be myself and recently found my own dream dress (yay!) Having helped many brides over the years, and now having experienced the process first hand it’s fair to say I have seen my fair share of dresses. Which is exactly why I love it when I come across a girl who’s in search of a look that’s a little bit ‘out there'.

With that in mind, here are my top looks for the slightly daring, fashion-forward bride….

1. Lihi Hod – Ola Gown

The Designer: Lihi Hod is an Israeli designer whose fashion credentials include working in Paris – for Dior – alongside none other than John Galliano. Lihi began designing her own wedding dresses in 2010 from her Signature studio. Besides creating beautiful, contemporary gowns Lihi designs with a “nonchalant attitude of present” in mind…sassy and I love it!

Price Point: Lihi Hod gowns typically range from $5,900 – $10,400

Why I love this look: This design takes a classic, ballgown shape but gives it a modern twist. The 3D shape of the blunt neckline feels more contemporary by adding structure and interesting lines and the daring high-leg split adds a little sexyness!

2. Rue de Seine – East Gown

The Designer: Rue de Seine designs with the boho bride in mind – beautiful silhouettes and chic designs which have been inspired by the romance of Paris.

Price Point: Dresses range from $2,900 – $5,200

Why I love this look: It’s different and makes a nice change from more traditional laces. If you said you had a lace wedding gown, no one would expect this!

3. One Day Bridal – Leon Gown and Haven Cape

The Designer: One Day Bridal, an Australian label, are fairly new to the bridal world but with them, they bring modern styles, untraditional looks and fun! Selecting just one gown (okay, and cape) from their collection was hard!

Price Point: Gowns typically range from $2,500-$7,000

Why I love this look: I mean come on…the cape! What could possibly make you feel more ethereal on your wedding day?!

4. Karen Willis Holmes – Anya Gown

The Designer: Karen Willis Holmes, also an Australian designer, creates beautiful designs with a strong focus on handcrafted detail and exquisite fabrics. The label says ‘a Karen Willis Holmes bride knows exactly who she is and isn’t afraid to express her individuality’ – a pretty perfect fit for this feature!

Price Point: Gowns typically start from $2,300.

Why I love this look: It’s young and it’s fun. If lace isn’t your thing, but plain is just too simple then sequins are the ideal middle ground.

5. Cushnie – Bridal Look 8

The Designer: Cushnie is the baby of designer Carly Cushnie, her ready-to-wear collection aims to empower women and celebrate diversity, hence her designers are suited to those looking to stray away from tradition.

Price point: Styles typically range from $2,700-$5,300

Why I love this look: This gown is so simple, but has such beautiful sculpted lines. Plus, I love the skirt and crop combo.

6. Alexandra Grecco – Wilder Gown

The Designer: Alexandra Grecco designs are created and produced in the garment district of NYC. Alexandra launched her first bridal collection in 2014 after the search for her own bridal gown. The label says “Our designs cater to the bride who appreciates clean lines and chic silhouettes, but is not afraid to take a step or two away from traditional bridal fashion”.

Price Point: Gowns range from $2,000-$6,000

Why I love this look: For me, this dress is all about the texture, it instantly draws the eye!

7. Savin London – Sabella Jacket

The Designer: As the name suggests Savin London is a British bridal brand offering a range of fashion-forward gowns…and accessories!

Price Point: Accessories from $700, gowns typically from $2,500.

Why I love this look: Okay so it’s not a dress, and it’s not for everyone, but I can totally imagine a bride rocking this on her wedding day! If your day-to-day style is casual and you’re not really into the whole wedding dress thing then this could be a great alternative addition to your look.
